Another gift has been given

Back in January I wrote a post where I showed some of the latest projects, but also left out some because they were going to be used as gifts for friends whom were expecting babies.

Yesterday we again got to go baby "watching". It was a friend of mine whom I have known since kindergarten who had a second child in the middle of February. On the 16th to be exact, which is a bit fun, because that was actually my due date 4 years ago, and her due date was on the 4th of March (the day after Jonas' birthday), so that is a bit fun thinking about.

When she had her daughter almost 2 years ago I made a baby blanket and a giraffe for her.
So I had to make a blanket for their little boy as well, and since they knew they were having a boy I could make it in bright boyish colours. I also made a dragon for him.

I'm quite happy with the result, and I hope Viktor will be happy with it too when he gets older. So far all he cares about is being fed, sleeping and getting changed... Well he doesn't really like getting his diaper changed, but that is something he has to get used to:)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, the weather here is really spring weather, and I'm going to celebrate by going to a soccer match with a friend of mine this afternoon. The last time I went to see my team play was before we had Jonas, so I guess it's about time I will support them again:)

A few gifts

It's been a week of birthday celebrations, and will do a post on that another day.

Today we are visiting some friends that had a baby 3 weeks ago. She was in the hospital for a week because she had a c-section, and after she got back home we haven't been able to find a day that would fit into everyones plans until today.

I have crocheted a little gift and then we bought some clothes as well.

I made the cow back in December, I had to make something gender neutral since they did not want to know what they were getting. Then this week I decided to make a cuddle cloth for the baby as well. That was an really easy project, and since we now know they had a girl I could put some colour on it.

We are looking forward to meeting the little girl this afternoon. Until when I hope to get a bit a rest on the couch while Jonas play with all the lego he got for his birthday.

Christmas gifts from Jonas

I promised in another post that I would take pictures of the gifts Jonas made for us in daycare, so here we go. 

2 paintings, first they had put masking tape on the canvas, and then let the kids paint their own pictures. I love the look the masking tape gave the paintings.

 My favourite gift was this little plaster cast of his hand. I just love how you can see all the details of his nails, the little lines in his hand etc. When we unwrapped it Jonas first said "it's Eske's hand" Eske is one of the other boys in his daycare, his best friend, but it wasn't his hand we had got:)

 And last we also got 2 coasters for hot pots and pans. When we opened them Jonas carefully touched them and looked at his finger to see if the paint had come of. I guess they had been told not to touch it until it was dry.

I love how he made all these gifts for us, they were the best Christmas gifts we got this year.

Playful food

I guess I could have called this a "Cooking with Connie" post too, and then again not really. This Christmas Jonas is getting a play kitchen, and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a hit, why you ask? Well because it has been standing in our guest room for the last 2 months now, and every time he gets a chance to get in there he is playing with it. I had the best laugh one morning when I walked in on him playing with his Christmas gift, not only was he pretending to cook, but he had got into the cat food, so in one of the pots there were cat food, and he was stirring away:)

 

I figured he needed some play food instead of cat food so I looked for recipe for crocheted play food, and found this great website. So far I have made an egg, some fried eggs, and a burnt donut... burnt because I only had dark brown yarn, but I doubt that it will bother him all that much. The recipe actually calls for coloured pearls as sprinkles, but since I don't have any pearls and I'm pretty sure Jonas will eat them if them fall of, instead I have sown on sprinkles with coloured yarn. 

I'm looking forward to cooking up some more for his kitchen:)

On Tuesday night the girls from my knitting group were at my place, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Every month I look forward to the day we are meeting up.

This time one of the girls had a little surprise for us...

She made each of us a case for our crocheting pins, isn't it really cute? Now I just need fill it... so far I only have 2 crocheting pins, but now I have an excuse to get more:)

Have a great weekend everyone, I probably won't be blogging the next week, since I will be working all weekend, and Monday and Tuesday I will be away on course for work. It's a  bit weird having to be away from Jonas for 2 days, I'm going to miss his hugs and kisses in the morning... well not only in the morning the whole day, he loves to give kisses, but I guess I must fill up on them before leaving early Monday morning.

I got mail:)

Is there anything better than receiving real mail, not just e-mails? And I'm not talking about the mail you receive from the bank etc. No receiving mail from friends, that is the best. Probably because it doesn't happen so often, but I guess I can only blame myself, I'm not good at writing letters and cards, an e-mail is just so much faster! But after the joy this mail brought me I must be better at writing cards and letters myself!

This wasn't just a card or letter it was a whole package, and it was from Wendy. I met Wendy back in 2002 when we both were studying in Slovenia, and both had a love for pancakes with nutella and banana (but that is a whole other story). So a few weeks ago she wrote me an e-mail asking for my address, and I was excited because I thought there was a letter on my way, but this was even better.

So this is what I found inside the package, a card for all three of us, a gift for the mum-to-be (me) and 2 gifts for the baby.

I read the cutest card, and I really want to meet up with Wendy again, and hopefully it wont be to long, but who knows. I opened the package for me, and I can now really pamper myself and wait for the baby to come.

At this point I was considering waiting to open the 2 presents for the baby till my husband is home, but no, I was way too excited. I'm telling you my baby boy can now enter a competition for the best dressed baby. Aren't these just too cute?

And the monkey, and I'm sure Jonas is going to love him, ohh Wendy I might name him Gareth! Wendy has a thing for me naming our boy Gareth (but that too is a whole other story).

Thank you so much Wendy I love the presents, and it for sure cheered up my day, I guess this will be one less day of nothingness, this week just seem to get better and better.

Handball, Christmas Gifts and friends

So Yesterday I had the day off, which was very much needed after we spent Tuesday evening at the handball game between Denmark and Croatia. We were back around midnight, and at that point I was exhausted. But it was so worth it, the Danish girls played amazing, and we won big! 31-19! It was really amazing being at the arena, and hearing 11.300 people singing the national anthem, that will give you goosebumps:) So even though they have a game again tonight, it doesn't really matter, because they have now qualified for the semifinals, which unfortunately are being played on Saturday while I'm at work!

Shortly after I got up yesterday (Yep I slept in, isn't that what days off are for?) my cell phone rang. It was an old colleague of mine, who usually buy some of my mums Christmas cards, but had forgotten all about it, because she isn't working at the moment, because she is waiting on a smaller operation. Luckily I had a few cards left, so I could sell her those. So I stopped by her on my way to buy my last Christmas presents. So we chatted, drank tea and ate cookies... is there a better way to start a shopping trip?

Afterwards I went to the city to buy the last presents, and I actually finished that rather fast! I also went to another competing department store, and while working Monday night we had heard that their clothing department had a fire. So all the clothes that was left (which wasn't much) were 50% off, so I was lucky to get a bit more baby clothes! When I got home I started wrapping presents, which I love, and I do believe I do a better job than in some stores. I have actually before unwrapped presents they have wrapped at the store, and then wrapped them all over myself. I always thought the worst at wrapping was in mens clothing stores, let's face it a guy can't wrap a present. But yesterday I went to bodyshop and I wasn't impressed, that was a place I really thought they would do something fancy... but I was wrong, so I guess I need to do that one over as well:) I had to take a break from wrapping though, because my back were starting to kill me (oh the joys of pregnancy). I usually have everything out on the floor, and I guess my body was fit to sitting on the floor that long:)
