Another gift has been given

Back in January I wrote a post where I showed some of the latest projects, but also left out some because they were going to be used as gifts for friends whom were expecting babies.

Yesterday we again got to go baby "watching". It was a friend of mine whom I have known since kindergarten who had a second child in the middle of February. On the 16th to be exact, which is a bit fun, because that was actually my due date 4 years ago, and her due date was on the 4th of March (the day after Jonas' birthday), so that is a bit fun thinking about.

When she had her daughter almost 2 years ago I made a baby blanket and a giraffe for her.
So I had to make a blanket for their little boy as well, and since they knew they were having a boy I could make it in bright boyish colours. I also made a dragon for him.

I'm quite happy with the result, and I hope Viktor will be happy with it too when he gets older. So far all he cares about is being fed, sleeping and getting changed... Well he doesn't really like getting his diaper changed, but that is something he has to get used to:)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, the weather here is really spring weather, and I'm going to celebrate by going to a soccer match with a friend of mine this afternoon. The last time I went to see my team play was before we had Jonas, so I guess it's about time I will support them again:)

Survivor party

So this weekend was our 6th survivor party, the weather unfortunately started our really wet and rainy, but it clear up during the day.

Get ready for a picture overload, and a few comments along the way.

The first competition was skiing, each team got 2 boards and some rope and had to walk from one end of the backyard to the other and back.
Here they had to flip a blanket to the other side while all 3 of the were standing on it.
Using a flyswatter as a racket, and a balloon as a ball. They had to get the balloon to one end of the backyard, switch player and back in the basket. If the balloon touched the ground they had to start over, though we had to change that, because it was too windy.
Throwing cards at a watermelon, they only had to get one card to stick, but this one guy was really good at it and had to show of:)
Hole in one... well getting a pencil in the bottle, but since we didn't want it to be too easy, each team had to have 2 players getting it in the bottle.
Building a Lego car, one had to guide and one had to build. We ended up having to stand between them, because of course they tried to cheat looking over each others shoulders....
Placing m&ms on top of a straw with another straw, this was guy actually super fast, the girl he competed with got none placed by the time he finished... maybe she was more drunk than him.
Who could eat 10 crackers the fastest without drinking. Well two of the girls started spitting at each other, and were disqualified.
3 finalist at the plank, though one guy didn't last long. He actually didn't get much of a chance to get up there, but as a referee you have to be strict, otherwise this last game will take way too long.
The final 2, we ended having them stand on one leg, jump from one leg to the other etc.
Here they had to touch the plank, and in the end she fell of and he won. It was actually the second time he won, he also won back in 2012.
 Celebrating with champagne...
And his very nice teammates throwing him in the pool. Well they were nice enough to let him get his pants of first.

All in all again another great survivor party, though thinking up new games is getting hard, so if anyone has any good suggestions please let me know!

A little bit of this and that...

Yeah I'm still here, but the last few weeks has been crazy busy at work, and when I pick Jonas up at the school he is so tired, because he is no longer napping. So I just haven't had time or energy to blog.

So what have we been up to the last couple of weeks? Well not much really.

Last Saturday I was at a party with my co-workers. We had an okay time, at least I had fun with the people from my own department, but things were a bit crazy that evening.

Otherwise we have pretty much all three been sick. Jonas started last Friday with coughing and a fever, but by Monday he was ready to go back to school. Frank has been near death, as men are when they catch the flu. I have had a cold, and still have, but it seems like it has mostly hit my voice, and I can live with that.

This Friday we were at an 80's concert, which was really fun. We went with some of our neighbours and had a great time.

Today I keep checking facebook, because one of my co-workers daughter is in the hospital and was having surgery this afternoon/evening, so I keep checking for an update. On Thursday they discover and lump or something on her one ovary (she is only 7) and during the night between Thursday and Friday she was transferred to another hospital, where they Friday morning operated her, and found a cyst on 5x6 cm on her one ovary. They had closed her again, and had to wait to see if the ovary was still alive. Due to her pain today they had decided to operated this afternoon instead of waiting. So now I keep checking facebook for hopefully a positive update....

Last night I started a crocheted "My Little Pony" for her, and I still need the last details. Please send good vibes their way, they for sure need it:)

Well I'm off to check facebook again!

A finished project - and just in time

This spring or early summer I realised a friend of ours were turning 50 in the end of November. She had asked at one point if I would make her a blanket, because she really like the one I had on the couch. I said sure, just buy the yarn and I will make it. So far she hasn't bought yarn, but I have...

And now I have finished the blanket, that she will have for her birthday. I figured that would be a great gift, and I would have a project to do. Though I have to remind myself never to make hexagons again, squares are so much easier to sew together in the end.
Though I'm really happy about the result, and hopefully she will be too:)

The dress

I have earlier promised pictures of the dress that my sweet friend made for me for my cousins wedding. Before leaving my parents place I forgot about it, and I just remembered before we were going to get seated at the wedding, so it went pretty fast, and well not the best picture of me, but you can still see the beautiful dress.

The wedding wasn't the best wedding we have attended, there were quite a few things that did not match our expectations. But we were seated at a table with 2 of my cousins, my brother, my parents and my aunt, and we made our own party.
A picture of the bride and groom, I love the picture she is seeking cover under her bouquet.

Now I'm just waiting for another opportunity to wear the dress again:) Hope you have enjoyed your weekend.

April seems to fly away...

I can't believe the first week of April is all ready gone, and it seems like I can't keep up with the rest of the month. All our weekends in April is booked, either with work, parties etc. I'm not sure I really looking forward to all of it.

This weekend we only had plans for today. Well Jonas had his swimming class yesterday morning, and as always we really enjoy that time. He loves being in the water, and it seems like he loves climbing out of the water and jumping in even more.

Today we went to visit a couple of friends that are expecting a baby in just a month. I have known her since kindergarten, but we haven't seen each other since January, so it was good to see them again one last time before she gives birth. We were invited to lunch and as always it's not just a simple lunch, the food is always amazing, and I always seems to overeat.

Today overeating turned out to be a good thing, because I had taken some fish out of the freezer for us to have for dinner. But after it had defrosted I didn't think it looked good, and didn't smell too good either, so that ended up in the trash and we had some leftovers from yesterday instead, there wasn't that much, but with some fries and my overeating at lunch it did the job.

I think I might be heading to bed early tonight, so I can fill up on energy for the next month... right now I really looking forward to my day off on Tuesday:)

Sweet friends:)

On Tuesday night the girls from my knitting group were at my place, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Every month I look forward to the day we are meeting up.

This time one of the girls had a little surprise for us...

She made each of us a case for our crocheting pins, isn't it really cute? Now I just need fill it... so far I only have 2 crocheting pins, but now I have an excuse to get more:)

Have a great weekend everyone, I probably won't be blogging the next week, since I will be working all weekend, and Monday and Tuesday I will be away on course for work. It's a  bit weird having to be away from Jonas for 2 days, I'm going to miss his hugs and kisses in the morning... well not only in the morning the whole day, he loves to give kisses, but I guess I must fill up on them before leaving early Monday morning.

Cupcake anyone?

Tonight I'm meeting up with the girls in my knitting group again, and I promised one of their daughters some cupcakes... you might remember I brought cupcakes to one of them a few weeks back. Well I also gave her a crocheted cupcake, which her 7-year old daughter fell in love with.

So I promised I would make some for her to play with, and this is the result so far.

She is the sweetest girl, and as soon as she heard Jonas had broken his collarbone she worried about him, and wanted to buy him a get well gift. So last Monday her mum handed me a gift for Jonas at work, and said that her girl wanted him to have it. So it seems like Jonas made a really great friend in her, he loved running around trying to do what she was doing, and the best thing was probably that she still think he is fun, and not just an annoying kid. But I guess that shows that friends come in all shapes and sizes, and what does it matter that she is much older than him:)

Have a great day:)

Cooking with Connie

It's time for another cooking with Connie post... well again it should be baking with Connie, but that just doesn't have a good ring to it:)

I am going to visit a coworker and friend (who is also in our little knitting group) had surgery done on Thursday. She had excess skin removed from above her eyes, so Jonas and I are going to visit her this afternoon, and I promised to bring cake.

I made Toblerone cupcakes, you can find the recipe here, I have used some of her recipes before, unfortunately Alicia stopped blogging about 1½ years ago, but her great recipes are still there for us to use:)

I had a bit of trouble with the piping bag, the first one broke, so I had to do with a plastic bag, then I hadn't chopped the toblerone enough, so it kept blocking the tip, so in the end I just use a plastic bag, and well they didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, but the taste will be the same:)

I made the same cupcakes for our Survivor party, though I just use a plain butter icing with a bit of food colouring, and that didn't stick in the piping bag, so here is proof that it doesn't always turn out too bad:)
Have a great weekend:)

An almost finished project...

Remember last time I finished a project, I showed you the yarn for a new project. Well it has been under construction for quite a while, but it seemed like when summer hit, it was just too warm to knit in the thick yarn. But now I have almost finished it, just need to fix the ends. So what did I make? I knitted a cardigan/bolero for myself...
Don't mind the stain on the t-shirt... hey it was late Sunday night, and I didn't even realise they were there until I saw the photo...

And a picture from the back...

Now I am refreshing my socks knitting skills, because tomorrow I will be "teaching" the girls in my knitting/crocheting group to knit socks. We started our little group this spring, we are 6 girls, and we meet up once a month. I really enjoy their company, and I am looking forward to tomorrow, though I am not the best teacher, luckily most of them knows how to knit, so hopefully it won't be to challenging.

Survivor Party

Well this Saturday was our Survivor Party, the weather was amazing, and the party was great. We had lots of fun and I am all ready excited about next years party.

Here is a few pictures from the day. Ahead of time both teams were told to make a team drink. The winners would get brunch and the losers would get cornflakes and oatmeal.

The red team showed up with red sodas and popped a strawberry down the bottle:) They said their new style was the didn't drink this year.
The blue team made jello shots and a some kind of mystery drink. Needless to say the blue team won, which disappointed the red team, they thought it was their turn to win the brunch... but it doesn't go by turn, so the blue team had their well deserved brunch. After the blue team was named the winner, the red team said "screw it we will have a cold beer".
The first game was a relay of 3 little games, the first part they had to roll a ping-pong ball down ruler and hit a shot glass.

Second they had to move 3 m&ms using a straw...
and the last part they had to move an egg from a top of a bottle to another bottle only using a string. The red team won big time here, though the ruler the blue team used turned out to be a bit crooked, so he never got the ball in the shot glass.
Another game they had 3 cans of fruit and had to stand on 2 of them and move the third one, and that way the could walk over the finish line. The girl on the red team was really great at it, and the guy on the blue team was really drunk, so he gave up quite fast...
In another game they had to move water from a bucket and fill a glass, again the red team won...
We also had a "balloon dancing" game. 2 people from each team should compete with a balloon between their heads, going under a ladder etc. again the red team won.
Here they are getting pasta penne on a spaghetti, I just love her face in that picture.

We ended up with a red team member winning this years survivor party. I know it seems like the red team won everything, but actually they won pretty much the same amount of games, but the funniest pictures are from the games the red team won.

As you can see we had an amazing time, and I can wait for next year, which will be our 5th time. We are thinking about making it a "greatest hits" and use some of the best games from all the other years.

Survivor weekend is coming up...

This weekend it's time for our annual Survivor Party, I can't believe that it's actually is the 4th time we are hosting it.

I'm getting really excited about it, and I think we are pretty much ready for Saturday. My parents are arriving on Friday, and will help with the last minute things. And they will be here Saturday to watch Jonas and help out a little.

One of last years games was moving cans with spaghetti

The best part is that the weather looks like it's going to be amazing. Nice and sunny, and not rain in sight, couldn't be better since we have a lot of outdoor activities. This is the one time a year we all get to behave as kids again... well with alcohol:)
a race on stilts

So stay tuned for new pictures from this years survivor party sometime next week:) And have a nice weekend, I doubt I will have time to blog again before the weekend!

In 5 days I will be in...

Edinburgh, and in 6 days I will meet up with her again and I get to meet her little baby girl. We first met in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2002, we were both there as a part of our studies. I can't believe it's been 10 years, well it's not 10 years since we last met, that is "only" 8 years ago. Wendy came to Denmark to visit me and another Danish girl we also got to know in Slovenia. So does this count as a blogger meet up? Since I knew her before blogging I don't think that it counts.
Okay it wasn't all studying, we had quite a few parties too. It's me on the left, Wendy in the middle and on the right is the other Danish girl.

I'm super excited about going, though not nearly ready to go. I will be working all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and until 4.00 pm the latest on Monday. So packing has to be done in between. Though I have written a list so I think I can pack fairly fast, though you really need a lot more when travelling with a kid:)

So have a great weekend everyone, and hopefully I will be able to blog again before leaving:)

Vacation time...

Yeah I haven't even started working again, and I am all ready thinking about our next vacation. we have ordered the plane tickets, and made reservation for a hotel in Edinburgh, so I get to meet Wendy again. We first met back in 2002 when we both were studying in Ljubljana, Slovenia. She came to visit in 2004, and since we haven't seen each other, so in about 3 months we will be flying into Edinburgh, and I am super excited.
Wendy and I in front of a statue in Ljubljana in 2002
It's amazing how things changes, before we got Jonas we would get the plane ticket and a cheap hotel with an okay location, but it didn't really matter what else was at the hotel. This time we wanted a place that offered breakfast, there should be parking since we want to rent a car, but it should also be located very central since we don't want to drive every time we need to go somewhere. It was also important that it was possible for us to heat water for Jonas' bottles, and we found a hotel that had all we wanted, so we are now ready to go... well the 2 biggest things are ready.
Wendy and I in Legoland in 2004

So now I can pretty much start counting the days to seeing Wendy again, and to meet her little Elsie:)

Catching up...

I'm still here, and I have no excuse for not blogging for so long! The best excuse is that I haven't had much to blog about, so now I'm back doing a little catching up. So since my last post here is what has been going on.

Last Monday they called from the daycare that the woman taking care of Jonas was sick, and asked if I wanted another spot at another place for him. I figured since he was still trying to settle in and I wasn't working it was better to keep him home. It turned out she was sick all of last week, but Jonas loved staying home. So today was his first day back, and we were going to try that I would stay for a little before leaving him there, but it was like he knew I was going to leave, because he was clinging to me, crying a bit etc. So when I waved goodbye he was really upset, but after I had left it had been a little better. He was still upset, but he was in a fairly good mood while they were eating. And the best thing was when I picked him up there was no

screaming when I opened the door... he started crying a little shortly after, and went totally crazy when he saw me... but since he hadn't been there for a week she thought he had done pretty well... yeah there might still be hope...

On Thursday night I was at a clothing home party, and I got a few dresses and some leggings (this company makes the best quality of leggings). So now I'm impatiently waiting for it to arrive...

This was one of the dresses I got via

On Friday a friend of ours and his new girlfriend and their brought together 5 kids came to visit and to have a photo shoot in my husbands "studio". I figured since they were staying for dinner we would just order pizza, because who knows what they will like and more important what they don't like... and honestly cooking for 9 people just didn't seem all that fun. We have a new pizza place nearby, that make really great pizza, so we ordered 3 family sized pizzas... oh boy, did we get pizza! I think there was more than 1½ pizza left... 2 family sized pizza had been more than enough, they we bigger than most other places!
The pictures turned out pretty amazing if I have to say it, I might be a bit biased since it's my husband being the photographer.
Yesterday was my husbands birthday, which was really low key, since we figured both out families will be here in a couple of weeks for Jonas' birthday, so we will celebrate his birthday then too.

Otherwise I have been crocheting and I am also in the process of making a purple purse of coffee bags, but more about that another day.

Have a great week everyone!

Guest Post

Hi and Merry Christmas, hope you are enjoying the holidays!
Just wanted to let you know that today I have a guest post over at Vanisha's life in Australia. I "met" Vanisha through Krysten's "Must Have Summer Swap", and we have stayed in touch since. I hope that our friendship will continue to develop in the years to come.... and maybe even someday we will get to meet, I would love to go to Australia some day:)
I will be back to blogging in a few days:)

A nice weekend:)

We had a nice, relaxing weekend. It seems like after knowing that Frank has a job from November 14th, well we just seemed to be able to enjoy his time off a bit more. Friday night Frank went to see our local soccer team play their last home game for the season, and they won 4-1 and are currently number 1, though that is not too impressive since last year they were last and had to go to another league, but hopefully next year they will be back in the best league again:)

Saturday was a relaxing day, not doing much. In the evening a friend of ours stopped by, and we watched the Danish Music Awards... I must admit I didn't know a lot of those new Danish artists, well then I heard some of the songs I had heard them before, but I had no idea who was singing them... I guess I don't listen much to the radio anylonger! But it was a great show, and the 2 guys hosting it was the best!

Sunday we went to visit and friend of mine from Kindergarten and her husband. They had prepared the best lunch... we had tapas and I couldn't stop eating, so I ended up skipping my dinner last night:) We had a really nice time, and got to catch up again, we haven't seen each other since our Survivor party in August.

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend, and have a great week:)

Coffee is my friend...

This week has been busy and a bit exhausting this far, but also a lot of fun... but coffee has saved me this week!

Monday I was meeting up with the girls from my midwife group, and the walk there only took 45 minutes, and the weather was great, so I really enjoy it. On the way back Jonas was awake, which made the trip even better, wouldn't you just love the company of this little guy?

Sorry for the poor quality of the picture... I guess that is why I never take photos with my phone!

I was really nice meeting up with the girls again, and it's fun to follow their kids too, and see how big they are getting.

Tuesday I was hosting a kids clothes party in the evening, so I spent the day baking and cleaning. Though a lot of the people I had invited ended up not showing, there were a lot of lousy excuses, and a few real ones. But honestly when people know so far in advance, and say they will come, how come they change their minds a day or two before? Any ways the ones who showed seemed to enjoy themselves, and we did get to buy new clothes for our kids. It was one of my former colleagues who had started selling clothes in her spare time, so I also got to see her again:)

Yesterday I was meeting up with the girls from my mother group, which again was a 45 minutes walk each way, so I have really got some walking in this week... but I have also been eating cake...

So today I'm really happy that I don't have any plans, so now that Jonas is napping, I'm just relaxing with my good friend... mr. coffee:) and getting a bit of laundry done!

Spring, friends and invitations

It's been a great week so far... the spring has come to Denmark, and I'm hoping it's staying. Though they have talked about snow tomorrow, I find it hard to believe with the great weather we have right now, it's not super warm, but the sun is shining, and Jonas are sleeping outside in his pram. The great weather also gives us the opportunity to go for long walks, which hopefully will lead to me loosing a few more pounds:)

Yesterday a friend of mine came for a visit with her baby, whom suddenly seemed amazingly big... I guess with Jonas only being 3 weeks, Ella just seems huge being 8 months:) It was really nice seeing her again, we used to work in the same department, but after she went on maternity leave we haven't been the best at keeping in touch. Unfortunately she is going back to work soon, so instead of taking her full maternity leave she is saving some, and are therefore able to only work 30 hours a week the next year and a half. Wouldn't that be cool? I won't be able to do that though, since I'm employed as a leader, and therefore don't have a fixed schedule.

Today I have done a little light cleaning while Jonas is sleeping, and I have made the invitations for his baptism, and if I have to say it myself they turned out pretty great:)

We are having the baptism on my birthday. We were planning on having it the day after, since my birthday is on Saturday, but our church apparently have special baptism services the first Saturday in the month, so come June 4th Jonas is getting baptised.

Now I'm looking forward to the weekend, where we will have some friends over for dinner. So depending on Jonas' mood we will see who is cooking the dinner, me of the husband:) Have a great weekend everyone when you get there!

I got mail:)

Is there anything better than receiving real mail, not just e-mails? And I'm not talking about the mail you receive from the bank etc. No receiving mail from friends, that is the best. Probably because it doesn't happen so often, but I guess I can only blame myself, I'm not good at writing letters and cards, an e-mail is just so much faster! But after the joy this mail brought me I must be better at writing cards and letters myself!

This wasn't just a card or letter it was a whole package, and it was from Wendy. I met Wendy back in 2002 when we both were studying in Slovenia, and both had a love for pancakes with nutella and banana (but that is a whole other story). So a few weeks ago she wrote me an e-mail asking for my address, and I was excited because I thought there was a letter on my way, but this was even better.

So this is what I found inside the package, a card for all three of us, a gift for the mum-to-be (me) and 2 gifts for the baby.

I read the cutest card, and I really want to meet up with Wendy again, and hopefully it wont be to long, but who knows. I opened the package for me, and I can now really pamper myself and wait for the baby to come.

At this point I was considering waiting to open the 2 presents for the baby till my husband is home, but no, I was way too excited. I'm telling you my baby boy can now enter a competition for the best dressed baby. Aren't these just too cute?

And the monkey, and I'm sure Jonas is going to love him, ohh Wendy I might name him Gareth! Wendy has a thing for me naming our boy Gareth (but that too is a whole other story).

Doesn't he look like a Gareth?

Thank you so much Wendy I love the presents, and it for sure cheered up my day, I guess this will be one less day of nothingness, this week just seem to get better and better.

Have a great weekend everyone!
