A productive Sunday

So over the last couple of weeks I have finished a few projects, but since some of them are going to be given away, well then I can't show you them yet.

I have one project that I can show you. I made a couple of baskets, a breadbasket and a smaller basket. They are made from mason string. A while ago, almost a year ago I think, I saw someone whom had made baskets from mason string, but it wasn't until now that I got around to try it too.

I bought some orange mason string, and the 2 rolls made the 2 baskets, I just have a little left.

This morning I was working from 7.00 am till noon. I know I have said my new job didn't require me working weekends. Though we are really busy right now, and we were asked if anyone could help out. So I volunteered to work today. The best part is that I can always say now if I have other plans, and I get paid overtime and get hours saved, so I can take time of another day. Besides 5 hours of working doesn't seem too bad, so I figured that I might as well.

After getting home I have been packing up all our CD's, does any of you ever use a CD any longer? Well we don't, so they all got packed in a box, and now I can use the shelves for my yarn.

So now I have my yarn organised, which is both good and bad. I thought I had a lot yarn, but I didn't think I had that much. Which also let my husband to say that there was no reason for my to buy more yarn anytime soon. But what does he know? There is always a reason to buy yarn:)

A little update...

I can't believe I haven't been blogging for almost 2 weeks. I guess I have been a bit busy, I have been working nights for a few days in the beginning of this week, but that just messes up everything for a few days afterwards. I have today off, it was very much needed, because working during the night doesn't give you as much sleep during the day....I guess I'm not cut out for it, but I do still enjoy it, but after a few days I guess I need some time to catch up on my sleep.

So what have I been up to... on Saturday Legoland opened again for a new season, and Jonas and I went. It was raining a little, a bit cold etc. but we dressed for the occasion and had fun.
Jonas in front of a little Lego city, he loves seeing the trains go by, and the little cars driving around. I actually think he would be satisfied if that was all we got to do there...
Taking a picture of the dangerous lion Jonas, though by the time I got to take the photo he was leaving again.
In the small boats, he kept telling me if we were turning left or right... he is actually quite good a know what is left and what is right.
Jonas and me sailing in the small boats.
On Friday it was our 5th wedding anniversary, but since Frank had a company party to attend, we waited a celebrated a little Saturday night. One of the presents at our wedding was 3 bottles of wine, one for our first anniversary, one for our 3rd anniversary and one for our 5th anniversary. Though I can't believe it's been 5 years all ready....
Yesterday before leaving work one of the guys got cinnamon. It's tradition in Denmark that when you turn 25 and aren't married you get cinnamon, and if you aren't married by 30 you get pepper. He was expecting it, but he thought we would do it in the morning, so he had put his old clothes on... but we waited till he was off work, and took him outside... For some reason they always over do it at our company, usually you would only get a small bag, but he we have plenty of cinnamon in stock at our baker, so he got a whole lot more than I ever got.

Well that will be it for now, hope I will get around to blogging a bit more often...

A little bit of this and that...

Yeah I'm still here, but the last few weeks has been crazy busy at work, and when I pick Jonas up at the school he is so tired, because he is no longer napping. So I just haven't had time or energy to blog.

So what have we been up to the last couple of weeks? Well not much really.

Last Saturday I was at a party with my co-workers. We had an okay time, at least I had fun with the people from my own department, but things were a bit crazy that evening.

Otherwise we have pretty much all three been sick. Jonas started last Friday with coughing and a fever, but by Monday he was ready to go back to school. Frank has been near death, as men are when they catch the flu. I have had a cold, and still have, but it seems like it has mostly hit my voice, and I can live with that.

This Friday we were at an 80's concert, which was really fun. We went with some of our neighbours and had a great time.

Today I keep checking facebook, because one of my co-workers daughter is in the hospital and was having surgery this afternoon/evening, so I keep checking for an update. On Thursday they discover and lump or something on her one ovary (she is only 7) and during the night between Thursday and Friday she was transferred to another hospital, where they Friday morning operated her, and found a cyst on 5x6 cm on her one ovary. They had closed her again, and had to wait to see if the ovary was still alive. Due to her pain today they had decided to operated this afternoon instead of waiting. So now I keep checking facebook for hopefully a positive update....

Last night I started a crocheted "My Little Pony" for her, and I still need the last details. Please send good vibes their way, they for sure need it:)

Well I'm off to check facebook again!

Oops, where did the last week go?

I'm still here, but I have no idea where the last week went. Well last weekend we were meeting up the orchestra I used to play with, and we had a wonderful weekend.

The last week at work has been crazy busy, and I really can't wait for this next week to be over, because then I will be off for a week, and I doubt I will miss work.

I seem to be relaxing and getting my mind off things by crocheting, and yesterday I made this bird.

It's a copy of the Danish designer Kay Bojesen's bird, though I'm not completely satisfied, I think the body got a bit too long, but I guess I can change that in the next one. I also need to get some eyes for the bird.

I'm not sure I will be showing my colleague this one, because last time I showed her the can covers I ended up making so many that I can't keep count. She first asked me to make some for her, and then there were a lot of her friends who wanted them too... so I think I have been making close to 50 by now, so they are no longer so much fun to make.

Hope you are all doing well.

Is Christmas really just 4 days away?

Okay I can't believe that Christmas is just 4 short days away... the last couple of weeks have just been crazy/busy. It seems like the only day I had off was last Wednesday, which Jonas and I spent driving the bus into town, go swimming and ride the bus back. He thought it was so much fun, and was extremely tired afterwards, so tired he fell asleep on the bus ride back home:)
Otherwise it's been a mix of work and different Christmas gatherings. Then last my parents called that my uncle had passed away. He had been sick for quite a while, and when he passed away he was all prepared for it. He had talked to his 2 sons, his brothers (my father), and was ready to go. He was sure he was going to meet up with his wife again. I started to worry that the funeral would be on Saturday, where I was working. It was a really busy weekend, and would pretty much be impossible to trade away. Well the funeral ended up being this Tuesday, which was my day off. It was a really beautiful funeral, and nice to see lots of my family which we only see every second year at family reunions, though the occasion could have been better.

Though since I had planned to get a lot done on Tuesday, so I could get ready for  Christmas, well I was left a little behind. Though driving 1½ hour each way did put me a bit in the Christmas mood, I finally got time to listen to my Christmas Cd's. Luckily I have the weekend off, and will be getting the rest ready for Christmas. My parents will arrive on Sunday, so my mum will help get a little cleaning done, and cook Christmas dinner.

On Christmas Eve we will be 10 people here for dinner and opening gifts. Both our parents, my brother and Franks brother and sister. So in case I don't get around to blogging again before Christmas, which I probably won't, the Merry Christmas everyone:)

So far so good...

Well it turned out a lot of organisational changes will happen at work. So far noone has been fired, though a lot of people will find themselves in new positions, including me. I don't know much yet, I do know that the position I have now will not exist by October 1st but I also know I'm not fired. I'm not too worried about it, I have a pretty good feeling it will all turn out for the better. I also know that tomorrow I have a meeting with the head of our department store, she is meeting with everyone of us who is in a position that won't be there by October 1st, there will be new and different positions, but so far no names have been put on those positions.

I will keep you updated, but until things have been made public I won't be telling anything on here either. So you might have to wait till next week for some news. But I have a feeling that this will be a change for the best:)

What's up?

So I have been working both Saturday and Sunday, so I have today and tomorrow off. My plan was to go to Legoland with Jonas tomorrow, but I received a call that I should be at work for a meeting at 8.30 am tomorrow morning. All head of departments have been called in for a meeting at 7.00 am, all leaders at 8.30 and all employees later on in the day... now I can only speculate what's up? Have they sold the store? Are they changing the organisation? Are we all being fired?

I don't was to spent my day off wondering, but it keeps being at the back of my mind... who knows? Tomorrow I might be out of a job, well not tomorrow I do have 6 months from when the fire me to I will be out of a job, and we have just entered a new month, so it will actually be almost 7 months...

My plan so far is to go into the meeting, and then pick up Jonas and drive to Legoland, so I guess there won't be any sleeping in late tomorrow.

Baby, birthday and block party...

It's been a crazy week, well busy at least but also fun. On Sunday we visited some friends of our who just had a baby 2 weeks earlier. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of sweet little Kaya, but I did get some pictures of the Giraffe and the blanket I made for her.

On Tuesday it was my birthday, and when I walked into the office on Tuesday morning this was the sight I was met by.

Don't I have the best colleagues? On Tuesday night we went out for dinner, and had a really lovely evening. Wednesday was a national holiday so I was just at work for a few hours in the morning to help opening the store.

This weekend we have a block party, or more of a town party. There is soccer games, music, bouncy castles for the kids etc. We went there this afternoon/evening and Jonas loved the bouncy castle.

Tomorrow evening there is a big party we are attending. I'm working from 7 am till 4 pm both Saturday and Sunday, so I'm not going to party too hard. Though I will miss out on more of the games, but I bet Jonas and Frank will be at the bouncy castle most of the day tomorrow:)

Have a great weekend everyone!

What a busy week...

Sorry for not blogging in a while, it seems like the last week has flown away. Last Saturday Jonas and I went to Legoland, and ended up going with a colleague of mine and her 8 year old daughter. We had an amazing day, and I can't wait to bring him there again.

Last Sunday we attended the confirmation of Frank's cousins daughter. First it was 2½ hour drive, and it totally messed up Jonas rhythm of sleeping, so as soon as we had the dessert we headed back home. The drive back was awful, Jonas was really upset and screamed quite a bit. Tomorrow we are going to another confirmation of a friend's daughter, though this one is in town, so hopefully that will be a bit better.

On Tuesday I was on a IT course, because we are getting a new system at work. They asked if I would be one of the people that will do the training of the rest of the department store as we change over. At first I was a little hesitant, but I figured that since they asked me, and they only needed 3 people, well I guess they figured I was able to do it. And besides I figured it would be nice for myself to be on board from the beginning. I was pleasantly surprised at the course, the new system is really user friendly, though I'm sure there will be quite a few things that will need changing as we go along.

Yesterday was a national holiday, and the department store was hosting a party for all employees. It started at 4 pm, and our department started ahead of time at noon. By the time we got to the real party most of our department was really drunk. Usually I would be right in there with them, but since I had to work at noon today I was being a bit careful. Around 8 pm a girl from my department had got a headache, and was being picked up. She asked if I wanted a ride, and I figured I might as well, since I would probably call a taxi soon anyways.

Today I was working, and we were busy like hell, usually around 4 pm it will cool down, but it seemed like today I was busy until 10 pm when we were closing. Though I am glad we had something to do, otherwise I would have been really exhausted, and I would have been counting the minutes till closing, today I was only counting the last 10 minutes, because I was busy right until then...

Now I will head to bed:)

One of those days...

Today has been one of those days you just wish you could skip. I'm not going to bother you with the details, but it's been a long day at work. Well it's been a long week of work, I haven't had a day of since last Tuesday, so I can't wait for it to be Saturday, or just Friday at 10 pm and I will be of for 2 whole days.

Though my day got a bit better as the day went on, now I'm on the couch, my husband made me a cup of coffee and I'm going to relax. When I check my e-mail I found out I have been chosen to test Lego Duplo via Buzzador. Well I guess Jonas has been chosen to test it, anyways there will be a package in the mail for us soon.

I picture from Legoland from our visit last summer

Speaking of Lego I have bought a season pass for Legoland for me and since Jonas is under the age of 3 he is free. So I think this Saturday we will leave Frank at home to do some gardening and we will head to Legoland. Hopefully we will get to spent a lot of hours having fun in Legoland over the summer. I still have my season pass for the petting zoo, it will expire in July, but I figured this year Jonas would think Legoland would be fun, so we would try something different and it's not that long of a drive from us.

Hope your day was better than mine:)

Some long days

I have just arrived home from a 2-day course, remember I went on one in November, I actually went on the little over 2 hour drive in November, to find out they had cancelled the course. But this time I got to stay, and the course was a lot better than I was expecting. There was a lot of things I think I can use on a daily basis. Though it was quite a few long days, I left at 6.30 yesterday morning, and we were in class until almost 8 yesterday evening. I was really happy when we finished at 2.30 this afternoon, which was 1½ hour earlier than expected. Unfortunately we ran into quite a lot of traffic on the way home, and it took a little over 3 hours to get home.

The best thing about getting home was getting a great bear hug from Jonas. This is the first time I have been away from him for 1½ day... I know he have had fun with his dad and in daycare, but it was really nice to get a big hug from him when I arrived home:)

Now 2 days of work is waiting Saturday and Sunday from noon till 10 pm, but then I will have Monday off to enjoy with Jonas. Wonder what we will be up to.

Have a great weekend everyone:)

What a week...

Well the last week has been everything but quiet! Thursday I had the team building course which turned out to be a smooth path course, so not so much team building, but with the weather right now it was fun and useful. Since I wasn't leaving until the afternoon Jonas was didn't go to daycare as early as usually. I was in the living room watching TV, he was playing with his cars, suddenly he ran out of the living room, I figured he was going to find some more toys in his room... well after a while it was awful quiet, and then you know it means trouble...
He had gone into our guest room, which is also used for storage, so please don't look at the mess in there. On the dresser there was a box of chocolate, so he had pushed a box of cat litter in front of the dresser and stepped up on it so he could reach the chocolate... well you can't say he is dumb... I thought it was so hilarious, so instead of telling him I had caught him red handed I snapped a photo of him first. Afterwards I traded him some grapes for the chocolate, which he was equally as happy getting:)

On Friday he went to daycare again, and around 10.30 she called that he had a fever. Luckily Frank was working from home, so he could go get him. I was working all weekend, and by Monday he didn't have a fever any longer, so I send him to daycare since I had a meeting a 11.30 otherwise I had the day of. At 10.30 she called that he had a fever again... I picked him up, and then dropped him of at my parents in law. Tuesday he went to my parents in law again, but he wasn't really sick, but we figured we would play it safe. Then today he went back to daycare, and at 10 she called again he was sick... Frank picked him up, though this time he also behaved sick, not only the fever.
So sitting in the couch watching Tractor Tom on the tablet is a great way to spent time when you are sick. Now we have arranged for him to go to my parents in law again Thursday and Friday, and hopefully he will be completely over his sickness by Monday!

Hope your week has been a little bit better than mine:)

"Her name is mum"

Today I was at work, there was quite a lot of customers, and at one point I walked by a mum and her boy in the cart. I recognized the boy from one of the places Jonas has been in daycare, and said "Hi Lucas", he said hi, and I walked on. After I could hear him say "Mum, her name is mum", luckily she recognized me as well, and said "yes, that is Jonas' mum, did you recognize her?"

That comment really made me smile, and I'm sure the next customer got just a little bigger smile than usual. So my name is mum, how cute is that?

Hope you had a great weekend:) I have tomorrow off, and I will spent it Christmas shopping with my mum.

I started my job at the department store... well it was 10 years on Wednesday. So I guess it's about 10 years and a week ago I called my old boss (I had worked there after school, while studying), and asked her if she needed someone to help out at Christmas time, just until I got a real job...

10 years later I'm still there, though not in the same position any longer... I never thought I would be in the same place for that long, but the great colleagues are worth it. And I think the possibility of switching from one department to another, well that is probably why it doesn't feels like I had the same job for 10 years.

I was celebrated with breakfast with my own department and lots of gifts:) Sorry for the poor picture, my cell phone doesn't take that good pictures. I got the 3 books "Fifty Shades" which I have heard a lot about, but I haven't got around to reading yet (they just came out in Danish in the last couple of months). I had planned on putting them on my Christmas wish list, but that isn't necessary now:)

Here is to 10 more years, or should we say 5 years to start with, I do believe they also celebrate 15 years:) Have a great weekend everyone:)

A little annoyed...

The past 5 days have been quite busy... I was working from 8.30 am to 10.00 pm on Friday, Saturday morning Jonas and I had his swimming class, and at noon I went to work until 10 pm and again Sunday from noon till 10 pm. Monday morning the alarm went off at 5 am so I could get the last packing done before I had to leave for my 2 day course. I dropped Jonas of at daycare at 6.45 am and started the long 2½ hour drive...

I arrived at 9.15 am, and when I came down to the conference room where the course should be held there was only 1 other than me... and the 3 people teaching us... at 9.30 where we were suppose to start we were still just 2 people, so our teachers decided to wait a little to see if more people showed up... maybe some was stuck in traffic. A little after 10.00 am 3 people showed up, they had taken a ferry to get there, and one of the 4 motors on the ferry had broken down and caused a delay. This I can accept, I know they did what they could to get there on time, but a break down on the ferry... well you don't expect that.

Meanwhile our teachers had started calling around, and it turned out a lot of people had forgotten etc. That's were I get annoyed... honestly how can you forget? I got the dates before my summer vacation, a bit early maybe, but I wrote in my calendar. A little over a month ago I received a mail with the assignment we had to do ahead of time, so if I had forgotten this would be a reminder.

The teachers didn't think we were enough people to continue... so we were sent home! That's where I get a bit annoyed, I had driven for 2½ hours after 3 long working days, only to drink 3 cups of coffee and make the 2½ hours drive back....

What a waste of time!

Nearly there...

It's almost time for me to have another vacation... well one more day of work left, and I will be off for 2 whole weeks:) I can't wait! We don't have any big plans, except Legoland and the zoo.

Frank and Jonas started their vacation last Friday, so it has been kind of boring going to work this whole week. But then after my first week off Frank will have to go back to work, so then I will be able to enjoy not having to get ready in the morning:)

I have almost started counting the hours:) Now all I need is the weather to turn a bit better:) Have a great weekend everyone:)

I think I am ready...

Our suitcases are packed, well most of it, just missing the last minute things. So I actually think I am now ready for our vacation:)

Today is actually my birthday, and at work I had some of the most boring assignments, which I told my boss I thought should be forbidden on your birthday, to which he just laughed, and said it would be nice if it was done before I went on vacation! Anyways it turned out to be pretty rewarding in the end, but I still hope that I don't get those assignments again on my next birthday.

I was meant to be working all day until 10.00 pm today, but a really sweet co-worker thought that since I had been working all weekend, it was my birthday and I was going on vacation, well she offered a few weeks back to work for me, which I really appreciate now:)

I guess all that is left to say is.... "Scotland here we come!"

I'm still here...

I haven't disappeared completely, but I seem to have been hit by a bloggers block.
Well sort of, when I get an idea of what to blog about I either don't have the time or the energy to do it, and when I have the time and energy to blog... well then I don't have the ideas!

Since my last post nothing much have happened, I have been working, spending time with my family and I guess that is pretty much it! Though I don't know when I will be blogging again, because now the weather is finally great here in Denmark, maybe a bit too hot. So the next couple of days I will be enjoy the weather, because we never know how long it will last.

Though I will leave you with a picture from this weekend of Jonas in his sandbox, I guess that sums up pretty good what we have been doing the last couple of weeks. I know I said the weather was great here, and he is wearing a sweater, but on Saturday I wasn't as hot as it is now.

Ohh and another BIG thing has happened since my last post, Jonas has started walking... well at least a few steps, but he is taking a few extra steps every day now, so pretty soon he will be running around:)

Waiting...

Today it seems like I have done a lot of waiting...
  • Calling different places, and being put on hold
  • Waiting in line for about 15 minutes at the post office, and the line wasn't even that long
  • Waiting in line at the pharmacy
  • Waiting in line at the grocery store
Let's face it, we spent a lot of time waiting, luckily this didn't happen on Tuesday, because that was the day I getting things done on my to do list at work, though it seemed every time I could cross one thing off the list 2 more had been added... yeah it was one of those days!

Now I'm just looking forward till tomorrow afternoon, when the weekend is very welcomed, and even better is that on Tuesday I will also have a day of:)

Happy weekend!

Where did the Easter break go?

Honestly 2 days off during Easter doesn't feel like a break, more like a weekend... Though I shouldn't complain since I only worked 4 hours both Thursday and Friday, and then 14 hours on Saturday. When I got to work at 6.00 am on Saturday morning I was thinking, "only 14 hours till closing..." at 7.00 I looked at the watched thinking "only 13 hours till closing", and then suddenly we got busy and the next time I look at the watch counting the hours it was 3.00 pm and I was finally getting lunch and thinking "only 5 hours till closing".

The day suddenly went fast, and by the end of the day my hands were dry and cracked from the water, cold weather etc. I knew my hand lotion at home was running low, so I went over to the perfume department to pick up a new one... I decided to try a different one, well kind of had to, because they don't carry the one I usually get. So I tried one from Nivea, The SOS hand balm, repair and care... I must say I am impressed...
My hands are really getting a lot softer now, and best of all it's so much cheaper than the one I usually use, so that's win. I can definitetly recommend it, I was very impressed:)

Hope your Easter break has been amazing!
