Get ready for a picture overload:)

Okay the last 1½ week just passed by in no time, getting back to work, my birthday last Wednesday, working most of the weekend, and all of this week, just left me more than tired when I get home, so blogging has been the last thing on my mind. This post will be mostly pictures from our trip to Turkey, and not much text.
Jonas at the pool, and yes I know it should have been turned, but I'm too tired and my computer way too slow for me to bother deleting it and uploading it again. He loved being at the pool, as long as we stayed more or less in the shade. Then the sun would come over to our seats, he looked at Frank and said they needed a break in our room.
During one of their breaks I tried the Turkish Bath - Hamam. And I also got a face mask and a massage. It was really amazing, and I really enjoyed it.
With my chocolate face mask, I honestly have no idea what that should be good for, but the picture is quite fun to have.
At the hotel playground, and as the responsible parents we are, we had beer at the playground... the pool was just behind us, and so was the pool bar, but I would leave Jonas on the playground by himself.
As I wrote last week the food at the hotel wasn't amazing, so some nights we went out for dinner. Twice we actually went to the same place. I was a Dane who had started a restaurant in Alanya and the food was amazing, the service great, so why not go back?
Jonas made friends with the waiters, especially this girl. When he saw her he would either run to her or wave at her, and she adored him too. She got quite a few hugs and kisses from him.

So overall an okay trip, the flight was really bad, because we flew with an old and really noisy plane, which resulted in headaches, and the food at the hotel was boring. But we really got to relax, which I guess was the whole point of the vacation.

I'm back...

We actually got back from Turkey on Saturday evening. We had a great vacation, but one thing is for sure, we are never going to an all-inclusive again... well at least not in Turkey. The food was the same everyday, and after a few days that just gets boring. We thought it would be easier having all inclusive with Jonas, so that we didn't have to go out every night looking for a place to eat. But let's face it, there are restaurants and bazaars everywhere in Alanya. We ended up eating out 3 evenings out the 7, just because we needed something different. I'm not saying every all inclusive is bad, because the first and only time I had been to at all inclusive before was back in 2010, when we went to a wedding in Punta Cana, and that was amazing, but then again it had 7 ala carte restaurants and a big buffet, so it wasn't the same everyday.

Nonetheless we had a good vacation, we spent a lot of time by the pool, which is a bit boring, but Jonas loved it. We usually started in the morning, and had chairs in the shade, and around 11 am the sun came to those chairs, well then Jonas would like to have break, so him and Frank usually took a break and I got to tan a bit.

We didn't get to see much, but we got to relax. I also got to try the Hamam (Turkish bath), which I really enjoyed, but since I haven't got my pictures from the camera yet, you will have to do with just the one of Jonas in the pool doing a handstand.... well I didn't a handstand, and came up, he told me I looked like a whale... honestly a WHALE, couldn't he have said a mermaid or a dolphin, but a WHALE come on! I guess you should hear the truth from kids... but Jonas said he also could do a handstand... look at the that and he has the nerve to call me a whale:)

He loved being in the pool, and as the days went by he got more and more brave, which meant having to keep an eye on him at all times! The first few days he would happily stay in the baby pool and only go in the big pool with us... but oh boy in the end he would try to sneak over into the big pool if we were looking away for a second....

You will get more pictures later, now I have to fold the last laundry, I got a bit of a setback yesterday then the dryer suddenly broke down, of course it will do that when you got 3 suitcases full of dirty clothes! So we had to go get a new one, but it delayed my laundry! Though now it's only folding left!

5 more days...

In just 5 short days we will leave for a week in Turkey:)

I'm quite excited, and it feel like it is very much needed to get away from work for a bit.

We will be in Alanya for a week, probably spending most of the time in the pool with Jonas, so hopefully I will get back with a tan!

I have been counting down on out board in the kitchen for the last month or so, and now it seems really close. The only obstacle left is packing, I hate packing, almost as much as I hate unpacking...

Have a great week everyone:)

DIY projects

So I have this week off from work, and is being spent with a mix of chores and relaxing DIY projects, well mostly fun, of the chores I so far have only emptied the dishwasher and folded some laundry Frank did over the weekend, but maybe I will get around to doing more chores, or maybe not.

On Monday I painted the kitchen, nothing fancy, just another coat of white, but it was needed, we had Jonas' wall art that needed to be covered, and we had some holes in the wall from moving things around. Jonas was in daycare, and it actually went pretty fast getting the paint job done. Yesterday Jonas was home and we relaxed, made salt dough, which I guess he can paint tomorrow, because I send him to daycare again today, because I have a few projects in the making.

Here are a few of the things I'm working on.

For Christmas I got a sewing machine, nothing fancy just a cheap one from IKEA, but nonetheless a sewing machine. But so far I haven't even unwrapped it, but today is going to be the day. This morning after grocery shopping I went to buy fabric, and I will try to make a pair of pants for Jonas. Depending on how it goes you may or may not see the result on here:)
Then I saw people online making this broomstick stitch lace scarfs, and I had to give it a try. There is the best tutorial on YouTube. I watched it once, pausing along the way to I could catch up, and that was all I needed, super easy.
Here is the YouTube video if anyone should be interested.
The last if my eternity project, I'm doing all these little patches which eventually should become a very colourful blanket. Though that is a project that I will make a few and then leave for while to make something else.
So that is what some of my week off will be spent doing. Maybe I should get the some chores done as well, but then again there is always tomorrow.

My vacation is over...

I can't believe I just spent a week of my vacation time, and I haven't really done much. Well Jonas and I have been hanging out playing with his cars, trains and watching Disney Junior.

On Monday there was a storm around, and several times I looked out in the backyard fearing the our trampoline would fly away, I knew it was secured, but every once in a while I couldn't help thinking okay now it's flying... so today we took it down, because I woke up during the night hearing the wind, and couldn't fall asleep again because I kept worrying about the trampoline... so hopefully now I will get more sleep:)

My parents came to visit on Wednesday, and on Thursday my mum and I drove to Århus (a big city about 2 hours away) to do some Christmas shopping. My mum pretty much finished her Christmas shopping, and I got some of mine done, but still have some left that I couldn't or wouldn't buy there in case they needed to be exchanged.

On Friday we were all attending my father in law's 70 birthday, he had a big party, and Jonas was entertaining everyone there. Otherwise it's been a very relaxing week. Several times I figured I would blog, but it's easier to do when Jonas is sleeping, so when he was napping I was thinking I will do it tonight when he is in bed, and when he was in bed I figured I would do it tomorrow when he is napping....

We will end the weekend and my vacation with dinner at my parents in law since my mother in law has her birthday tomorrow. Hope you all had a nice weekend.

A fun weekend

This past weekend my parents had invited us and my brother on a small getaway in a cabin about 2 hours away.

It was a really small cabin, but it was a really nice and relaxing weekend. We spent time at the beach, the playground and shopping. Though the shopping wasn't my favorite part since I wasn't feeling too well.

My ear was really hurting, and I was considering seeing a doctor, though it seemed a bit of a hazzle since I would have to find out where to go etc. So I decided to wait till the afternoon, but for some strange reason after eating lunch it got better, and by Sunday morning it was all gone.... I don't know how or why, maybe it was in the food?

I hope to get around to blog a bit more from next week, since then I will be starting my new job, and therefor fewer hours working:)

A long promised update...

I promised an update... well honestly I don't feel much for blogging at the moment, so this post will mostly be pictures. I guess besides my vacation from work a vacation from blogging has been needed.

In the beginning of July (I think it was the beginning of July, it might have been the end of June) there was a big gymnastics event in our city. We went into town on Saturday, saw a little gymnastics at the stadium, though we didn't stay too long, since Jonas wouldn't sit still.
After seeing a show at the stadium we walked around, and ended up on the harbour, here they had a lot of events, like this slide into the harbour, a trampoline where you would jump into the harbour, kayaking etc. Best of all the weather was amazing, which just made everything more fun. I think all the people staying at the different camps were happy too that the weather was good, a week with rain would have taken the fun out of staying in a tent.
Jonas and I went to the petting zoo, we had to go one last time before my season pass ran out. Here he is with his favourite goat, number 22. I always figured number 22 was a male since it was a little ugly, but it turn out the number 22 has become a mum during this spring:)
I have had my knitting/crocheting group over. When we meet up there is always food on the table, so I decided to make my own strawberry pie, and it was delicious, I might make it a "Cooking with Connie" post at some time. I also made a Coca Cola cake, it contained both marshmallows and Coca Cola of course, but it was a bit sweet for my taste, so I will probably not be making that again.
Then came vacation time, we stayed 4 days at Frank's parents summer house on Fanoe. Probably the only 4 days this summer that the weather wasn't burning hot. Which actually fit us fine, the weather was still okay, and we spent a lot of time outside. I don't have many pictures from the trip, and Frank will probably hate me for posting this picture, so please don't look at his dirty socks;)
Otherwise out summer vacation has been spent painting the house... or well I have got some of it done. We went to Legoland on Monday, and the rest of this week has been spent preparing out annually "Survivor Party" coming up this Saturday, I can't believe it's the 5th time we are hosting it. A part of the preparation was putting up out goal, which Jonas thought was fun, so he played a bit of soccer.
Otherwise out vacation has been relaxing. I will try to get around to blogging a bit more when I start working again. Hope you had a great summer.

A little treat...

I figured that since it was my week of I was going to be good to myself, so on Tuesday I went to brunch with a colleague, which was really nice, and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Jonas was in daycare for a couple of days, but on Wednesday I kept him home, and since he is all about trains and tractors, well we went on a train ride. We only went to another city close by, only 9 minutes by train. We walked a short walk in that city, but since it was raining pretty bad we took the next train back. Jonas loved it, he really liked driving the train, and all the excitement made him really tired, so he slept a 3 hours nap afterwards:)

On Thursday I had made an appointment to get a Thai massage.... maybe I should have looked into what Thai massage really is! Well this was a mix of a regular massage and a Thai massage. She started out stretching my legs, the she almost jumped up on my back! I was pulled and stretched in ways I didn't think was possible, but combined with the regular massage it was really good. I felt really good afterwards, everything seemed to have been loosened, and I felt tired in the same way you do after a good workout. Overall it was pretty good, though I wish I had been prepared for what a Thai massage is:)

Well I'm enjoying my last day of my vacation, or now I guess it's just the last day of the weekend:)

Yet another vacation:)

Yet another week of vacation has just started:) It seems like everyone else was off work between Christmas and New Year, but now it's my time to have a week off:) Actually I also had Friday of, so I have started my vacation all ready. On Friday Frank was off as well, so we took Jonas to the mini zoo. Though it was raining and there wasn't as many animals as during the summer.
Jonas always loves goat number 22, and it was nowhere to be found, I'm a little afraid that it has been turned into a meal for the lions... though we had a pretty good laugh when we passed by the lynx and Jonas called "Gustav", which is our cat... Gustav might be big, but not that big:)

Otherwise Jonas is into a train fase at the moment, I can't count how many times we have watched this video:)

I might have to warned you not to watch it too much it will get stuck in your head! Though the last couple of days we have been able to talk him into to watching episodes of Tractor Tom, which is not nearly as annoying as listening to Thomas the Tank Engine song all the time.

This coming week I have a few plans, I have some painting I need to get done, so Jonas is going into daycare a couple of days, and I going out for brunch with a colleague as well. Otherwise I will be relaxing, reading and maybe a few DIY projects.

Vanisha's giveaway and puddle jumping...

You should go check out Vanisha's blog, because she is hosting a LouenHide giveaway. Yeah I get an extra entry for blogging about it (which mean a better chance of winning), but to be honest I'm not sure that is a good idea... now maybe more will enter, and therefore my chances are falling again. But I have come to the conclusion that I don't have that many readers, so I will risk it.

Otherwise I have been busy enjoying my vacation. Jonas and I have enjoyed the week so far, we have been painting (I tell I got my own little Picasso here), been to the mini zoo, gone to the dentist, gone puddle jumping and most of all been playing with his trains.

Ohh, and I just won a giveaway over at Cranberry Portage, but hey that doesn't mean I don't need to win Vanisha's giveaway, so honestly I'm not sure any of you readers can pull off that bag, so there is no reason for you to enter the giveaway:)

Have a great day everyone:)

Vacation time again:)

This is where I love the Danish system, 5 weeks paid vacation every year... and most people also have 5 extra days, so actually I can have 6 weeks paid vacation every year, though the 5 days extra I use one every now and then.

So this coming week I'm using my 4 week of vacation (a vacation year goes from May 1st til April 30th). I have used 3 weeks during the summer, and then usually it's nice to have one in the fall, since springtime doesn't seem so hard to go through because of the lighter weather and the national holidays.

It's only me and Jonas having a week off though, because Franks work is quite busy at the moment, and he will be able to get the day between Christmas and New Year off, which is when the daycare is closed.

So this weeks, we don't have any big plans. Tomorrow we have just decided to go to an open farm arrangement at my cousin and her husbands farm. My parents are there to help out, and I figured Jonas would like to see the chickens, drive the tractor and play in the hay. Afterwards we are going to stay at my parents till Monday.

Otherwise we don't have any plans, but it the weather will continue raining I know we will be using our rain suit and rubber boots. Though Tuesday Jonas has an appointment at the dentist, I'm not quite sure how he will like that... but again the Danish system is to thank for free dentist till you turn 18, so we might as well use it.

Have a great weekend everyone:)

Last day of my vacation...

Today is my last day of my vacation, now it's only the weekend left before I start work again. Though the weather today has been pretty good, not super sunny and hot, but sunny and warm enough to sit outside without wearing a sweater or a jacket.

So Jonas and I were outside, Jonas decided to do a little gardening, he mowed the lawn... or well he used his lawn mower, but didn't really go much out on the grass.

I enjoy that he is so big now that he can actually entertain himself for shorter periods of time. So I sat in my chair and did a little crocheting, while watching him take care of the garden:)

Hope you all will have a wonderful weekend.

Legoland

Yesterday we went to Legoland, usually Saturday is a great day to go, since all the tourists are leaving the summerhouses (they rent from Saturday to Saturday), so usually there are not so many people on Saturdays... well that yesterday wasn't a usual Saturday, since it is in the middle of summer vacations, and I guess lots of people have rented for 2 weeks. There were tons of people, and fairly long lines to try the rides. But the rides that Jonas like wasn't too bad, I'm just happy we didn't go on the big popular new rides...

On the little planes, the line was pretty long, but worth the wait:)
Jonas really enjoyed the rides, though not the waiting in line. He did get to try a few different rides, and we had lots of fun.
On the monorail, we could almost hop straight on, though Jonas didn't want to sit down!

I was happy that we packed lunch, because the prices in Legoland is crazy. The ticket to get in is DKK 299,- (almost $50), luckily we had a 2 for 1 coupon and Jonas was free since he is under 3 years. At one point I was considering buying a ice cream, the prices were really high and the line was really long... so I did without. I can recommend going to Legoland, but it's a good idea to pack a lunch, there are lots of places where you can sit and enjoy your lunch, though with all the people yesterday it wasn't easy to find a free table... at least not in the sun.

A trip to Legoland was a great start to my vacation, and the best thing is that over the next week it looks like the sun will be shining, which will be a good change to the last couple of weeks with rain, rain and more rain.

Hope you all had a great weekend:)

Nearly there...

It's almost time for me to have another vacation... well one more day of work left, and I will be off for 2 whole weeks:) I can't wait! We don't have any big plans, except Legoland and the zoo.

Frank and Jonas started their vacation last Friday, so it has been kind of boring going to work this whole week. But then after my first week off Frank will have to go back to work, so then I will be able to enjoy not having to get ready in the morning:)

I have almost started counting the hours:) Now all I need is the weather to turn a bit better:) Have a great weekend everyone:)

Can I get an Energy boost?

Here I thought I would get better at blogging, but it just seems like lately I have had a lack of energy so when   it comes to blogging I just didn't!

Though I'm back... but don't expect too much, because I haven't found a place to buy an energy boost yet... though 8 more days of working and I will have 2 weeks off, that might help a bit:) Frank is starting his vacation a week before me, since the daycare is closed from next week and then 2 weeks forward. So Frank and Jonas will start their vacation on Friday, and I will have to wait another week.

We don't have any big plans for our vacation, except for maybe a trip to Legoland (I got a coupon where we get 2 tickets for the price of 1, and Jonas is free), maybe a trip to this mini-zoo, we went there with the daycare 3 weeks ago and Jonas loved it, they have a petting zoo and Jonas was actually hugging the goats when I told him to say goodbye to them:) Otherwise we will be relaxing, and hopefully have lots of sun so we can be outside.

Hope you are all doing well, if you are still reading after weeks of not posting!

Edinburgh update

So as promised a few more pictures from our vacation, though I'm not going to bore you with too many of them, since there is quite a few of Jonas, it was after all his first vacation.

First a picture of some of the beautiful buildings around Edinburgh, I really loved just walking around Edinburgh, it is really a beautiful city.
After we checked in to the hotel we set out to find lunch, and ended up getting a sandwich at a pub on Grassmarket. Afterwards we realised that very close to where we ate there were a great view of the castle, so we had to get pictures:)
We also went up to see the castle up close, though not the first day. But since you have a baby on your hands you don't always get to spent time as you would before having a baby. So we didn't go in to see any of the displays since Jonas was starting to get tired, and were a bit loud. Though he thought it was fun looking at the canons.
One of the days we drove up to (or maybe it's down to, I'm not quite sure) Roslyn Chapel, which is a must to see if you have read Dan Brown's "The Da Vinci Code". Though there were a lot of reconstruction going on, but it was still fun to see the chapel.
In order to do something fun for Jonas we went to Edinburgh Zoo, and we did get to see the giant pandas, which apparently are very expensive for them to have, since they have to import a lot of bamboo from overseas. Though Jonas wasn't too impressed with the Zoo, but we like it. It was really big, and had a lot of animals.
The next day we were at the park, and there were pigeons, and those Jonas loved... well at least he loved chasing them. So I guess we can conclude that the best things in life are free... or that you don't always have to make a big deal about things, I guess to Jonas it was more fun running around chasing pigeons that sitting in a stroller looking at caged animals, and putting it like that I can't say I blame him:)

Babies and bagpipes...

I'm back, and have been since last Tuesday, but my work just took up too much of my sparetime to blog, but here I am with a short post.

We had an amazing time in Edinburgh, and I got to meet up with Wendy a few times too. One of the times we were walking towards a cafe and came past a bagpipe player. Wendy's little girl had just fallen asleep and were trying to get Jonas to sleep as well, but as soon as they heard the music they both started crying...

Our conclusion was babies and bagpipes doesn't mix!

I will post more pictures from our vacation another day, but this is all you get for now. Have a great weekend!

Vacation time...

Remember when you were a kid and during vacations you were allowed to stay up later, eat more candy etc.

Well I guess that hasn't changed... this morning Jonas got into the little kitchen in our hotel room and reached up and grabbed the crisps on the counter... and we didn't stop him:-)

After all it is vacation time...

I think I am ready...

Our suitcases are packed, well most of it, just missing the last minute things. So I actually think I am now ready for our vacation:)

Today is actually my birthday, and at work I had some of the most boring assignments, which I told my boss I thought should be forbidden on your birthday, to which he just laughed, and said it would be nice if it was done before I went on vacation! Anyways it turned out to be pretty rewarding in the end, but I still hope that I don't get those assignments again on my next birthday.

I was meant to be working all day until 10.00 pm today, but a really sweet co-worker thought that since I had been working all weekend, it was my birthday and I was going on vacation, well she offered a few weeks back to work for me, which I really appreciate now:)

I guess all that is left to say is.... "Scotland here we come!"

In 5 days I will be in...

Edinburgh, and in 6 days I will meet up with her again and I get to meet her little baby girl. We first met in Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2002, we were both there as a part of our studies. I can't believe it's been 10 years, well it's not 10 years since we last met, that is "only" 8 years ago. Wendy came to Denmark to visit me and another Danish girl we also got to know in Slovenia. So does this count as a blogger meet up? Since I knew her before blogging I don't think that it counts.
Okay it wasn't all studying, we had quite a few parties too. It's me on the left, Wendy in the middle and on the right is the other Danish girl.

I'm super excited about going, though not nearly ready to go. I will be working all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and until 4.00 pm the latest on Monday. So packing has to be done in between. Though I have written a list so I think I can pack fairly fast, though you really need a lot more when travelling with a kid:)

So have a great weekend everyone, and hopefully I will be able to blog again before leaving:)
