Goodbye 2010 - Welcome 2011

So 2010 is getting to an end... and looking back I can hardly think of any bad things that happened this year, so 2011 really has to rock in order to beat 2010.

2010 was the year:

  • I started working in a new department, which I consider one of the best things I've done for myself workwise in years.
  • Went to Berlin, Germany during Easter, a great relaxing and fun trip.
  • Celebrated our first wedding anniversary
  • Went to Malmö, Sweden to visit an old friend (and to get my husbands camera fixed)
  • Celebrated my 31st birthday, and decided that I would now embrace growing older, so today I'm 31½ years old.
  • My dear uncle suddenly passed away - he will be missed.
  • I found out I was pregnant
  • Travelled to Singapore, Borneo, and Kuala Lumpur during our summer vacation
  • Hosted our 2nd annual Survivor party (and told all our friends that I was pregnant)
  • Started baby shopping
  • My brother and his fiance broke off their engagement and cancelled the wedding
  • I participated in my first Ornament Swap, which I hope I will be able to do again next year
  • Went to Punta Cana, The Dominican Republic on vacation, but most importantly to attend the wedding of Viivi and Morgan, the best part was seeing Viivi again for the first time in 10 years
  • Went to my first "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party"
  • Hosted Christmas Eve for the first time, which meant the first time for us to have a Christmas tree

So looking back on 2010, the only bad thing happening was my uncle passing away, otherwise it was filled with happy and wonderful times. Okay so you're reading through my list, and might be thinking that my brother and fiance breaking up being a bad thing, but I no longer look at it like that, I'm happy about them breaking up now too, we had seen a side of her we didn't knew she had (a side that would be best covered up).

So dear 2011 you better get you act together, because I expect to have another GREAT YEAR! The outlook is good though, I have only 4 days left of work next week, before starting my maternity leave, and in the middle of February I should become a mum, so bring it on 2011, I'm so ready for you!

Tomorrow I have the day off, I can't remember when I last had the 31st of December off, it's been more than 10 years I believe. To make it even better we are not hosting New Years this year, so I will have all day just to relax... or well I guess the Christmas decorations should come down tomorrow as well, they are not to see the light of 2011 before next Christmas.

Hope you all will get into 2011 safely, and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Some busy days over Christmas...

So the Christmas days have been busy but amazing. My parents ended up calling us late in the evening on the 21st and asked if we would mind them coming on the 22nd instead of the 23rd of December, because they had promised quite a lot of snow on the 23rd, so they were more comfortable driving on the 22nd. So when I got home from work on the 22nd they had arrived, and we had a nice relaxing evening.

Both me and my husband had to work on the 23rd, but when we got home my mum had done all the laundry and ironed all my shirts, and my dad had been shovelling snow... How great is that? We had a lot of snow on the 23rd, though not so bad in the area we live, but further south where my parents live they had got a lot more, so it was a good thing they drove up here on the 22nd.

On the 24th, my mum and I prepared the dinner in the morning, or at least all that we could prepare was prepared. Around lunch time my brother arrived, and in the afternoon my parents and I went to church, while my brother and husband stayed home to "watch" the turkey... that is usually their excuse for not going to church.

After church we had a drink, and just relaxed before having the big Christmas dinner. After dinner we opened presents, which you do on Christmas Eve in Denmark. Oh boy did we get a lot of presents! We got so much baby stuff that it could as well have been a baby shower (which we don't have in Denmark). We got a bed, a baby alarm, a tilted chair, clothes, a few books etc.

The bed and some of the other stuff we got, after putting the bed together Gustav wanted to check it out!

On the 25th my parents and brother left, and we had a relaxing day, and in the evening we went to dinner with my parents in law and my sister in law and her boyfriend. Since my sister in law had been working on Christmas Eve we exchanged gifts with her on the 25th... and yet again we had another baby shower, I believe she has emptied out the baby store, we got a changing mat, linens, a big giraffe, a thermometer, a wash basin and some clothes! So now I believe that we are all ready for the baby to come.

On the 26th we went to a Christmas party with my cousins, uncle and aunts, we had a really great day, but since we got a lot of snow during the day, we left fairly early in order to get home before too much snow came.
My brother and my cousins at the party, I guess my brother is showing something of interest on his phone!

On the 27th I had to work all day for 12 hours, which I kinda feared, since that would be the big gift exchange day, but for some reason we didn't have all that many customers yesterday, most of them I guess waited for today, because today has been really busy! So I was glad when I could leave at 4 o'clock!

I guess that was my Christmas, all that is left is to wish you all a Happy New Year, see you in 2011!

Merry Christmas

Just a short post to wish you all a Merry Christmas, can you believe it's only 3 days away?
Well I have finished all the Christmas shopping, all presents are wrapped, almost all food is bought (only a short list left for tomorrow), the Christmas tree got decorated on Sunday, so all I have left is pretty much just a little tidying up and cleaning and then I'm ready for Christmas:)

I have included a picture of our Christmas tree, I took it from the best angle, so you won't be able to see how crooked it really is, but I guess it has its charm. My husband were laughing quite a bit over my choice before he decided to help me trying to get it more straight.

My parents will be coming on the 23rd, and my brother will probably not be joining us until the 24th. We will be having dinner made by my mum, and as we do in Denmark we will be opening presents on the 24th in the evening. My family will be leaving again on the 25th, and in the evening we will be having dinner with my in laws. On the 26th we will be going to my family Christmas party with my cousins, uncle and aunts, which is always fun, but since I'm always working in the 27th we will have to drive back the same day.

Hope you all will have a Merry Christmas!

Handball, Christmas Gifts and friends

So Yesterday I had the day off, which was very much needed after we spent Tuesday evening at the handball game between Denmark and Croatia. We were back around midnight, and at that point I was exhausted. But it was so worth it, the Danish girls played amazing, and we won big! 31-19! It was really amazing being at the arena, and hearing 11.300 people singing the national anthem, that will give you goosebumps:) So even though they have a game again tonight, it doesn't really matter, because they have now qualified for the semifinals, which unfortunately are being played on Saturday while I'm at work!

Shortly after I got up yesterday (Yep I slept in, isn't that what days off are for?) my cell phone rang. It was an old colleague of mine, who usually buy some of my mums Christmas cards, but had forgotten all about it, because she isn't working at the moment, because she is waiting on a smaller operation. Luckily I had a few cards left, so I could sell her those. So I stopped by her on my way to buy my last Christmas presents. So we chatted, drank tea and ate cookies... is there a better way to start a shopping trip?

Afterwards I went to the city to buy the last presents, and I actually finished that rather fast! I also went to another competing department store, and while working Monday night we had heard that their clothing department had a fire. So all the clothes that was left (which wasn't much) were 50% off, so I was lucky to get a bit more baby clothes! When I got home I started wrapping presents, which I love, and I do believe I do a better job than in some stores. I have actually before unwrapped presents they have wrapped at the store, and then wrapped them all over myself. I always thought the worst at wrapping was in mens clothing stores, let's face it a guy can't wrap a present. But yesterday I went to bodyshop and I wasn't impressed, that was a place I really thought they would do something fancy... but I was wrong, so I guess I need to do that one over as well:) I had to take a break from wrapping though, because my back were starting to kill me (oh the joys of pregnancy). I usually have everything out on the floor, and I guess my body was fit to sitting on the floor that long:)

Have fun, I got to get to work!

I'm a bit excited for this week!

First you will see a picture of my sweater from last nights Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. I didn't win for the best sweater, but I still believe I should have! My husband actually won, and I made his as well, but I didn't actually get a picture of him, so hopefully someone else took some, and I will get them later. But he only won because the prize was a garden gnome, and our friends knows he hates everything about Christmas, so they had arranged the votes... so unfair! I should have won.... I'm not bitter at all... or well maybe just a bit:) Check out my sweater, with lights and everything, don't you agree I should have won?

This coming week is going to be a bit exciting as well. Right now the European Championship in Women's Handball is going on, and some games are played in Denmark and some are played in Norway. On Tuesday we have tickets to go see some games, yeah! Their are 3 games being played at an arena an hour away from us, when you buy a ticket you have access to all three games that day. The first one will start at 16.45, but we probably won't make it before the second game, we have to get off work first. The last game being played is Denmark-Croatia, we will probably miss part of the game Romania-Montenegro, but will for sure also be watching the second game Spain-Russia. So I'm super excited that we are going to see the games, the Danish women has so far won their first 3 games, not that they have been playing all that well, but they won, and I guess that is all that matters. Tomorrow they are playing Russia, which I doubt they will win, but then again, I didn't think they would win over Romania and they did.

And then on Wednesday I have the day off! Yeah! So I will have to get the last Christmas shopping done, and actually I don't have a lot left, so I guess I will also have time to relax a bit, and maybe go and get our Christmas tree.

After that the rest of the week, will be a bit boring, because I will be working! So both Friday and Saturday I will be there till closing time, but at least I will have Sunday off, so I guess it's not all too bad.

Ohh before I stop I just have to tell you a funny story. On Friday I met an old friend of mine at the store I work at, I was sitting at the cash register, and we just talked for a short while. Then I just talk to my parents this afternoon, and they had run into her today, and talked a while. Somehow my mum had said something about me only working there for a short while now, and she had asked why. She hadn't realised that I was pregnant, and I guess she hadn't heard. She had thought I had gained weight, but as she said to my mum, don't we all! But when my mum said I was 7 months pregnant she had said, well then she hasn't gained much weight! They had laughed a bit about it, and she was a bit shocked. So I just wrote her on facebook, that I heard she thought I had gained weight:)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and that you will have a great week ahead!

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Tonight we are going to our first "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party" at some friends house, I'm super excited about it, and I spent quite a bit of time last weekend making our sweaters, and I bet if there is a competition we will win, if there isn't... well we will still rock the party! I will post pictures of the sweaters, but you will have to wait till another day, I'm not giving it away yet:)
Everyone at the party is suppose to bring some food, and we have been trusted with the starters. So I have just been roasting duck breast which will be served cold on some salad with my own home made dressing made from lemon juice, soy sauce, garlic and chili. So I hope everyone will like it, and I can't wait to see what everyone else is bringing.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I'm trying to see the good things...

But it's a bit hard right now... I'm beyond tired, and can't wait for the weekend to come. The days at work still runs by so fast, that suddenly I'm off, and I don't know where the day has gone, but it also leaves me really tired and with swollen feet!
After work I tried to get a Christmas present for my husbands Godson, he told us he was hoping for at Starwars Stratego game, but the 2 places I tried it was sold out...
After I got home I wanted to iron my shirt for tomorrow, but my iron doesn't heat up...
So can you blame me for not being too positive? Well as I said I'm trying to look at the good things, and I have now found the game online, and they say they will deliver before the weekend, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I have also cleaned my iron, and are hoping that it will heat up when I try later on.
Another good thing is my brother and his ex girl friend have just sold their house... my brother was a bit sad about it, because this wasn't what he expected when they bought the dream house... but sorry for saying this.... Thank God he is not with her any longer, we have now seen the true side of her, and it's not pretty... cheating b**** So I guess them calling off their wedding is also a good thing:)
And now I'm going to lay on the couch, feet up, with my home-made Christmas cookies and watch a new episode of my favourite show "Desperate Housewives".
Hope you all have just a bit more energy than me:)

A few vacation pictures

Finally it seems like life is a bit back to normal again after our trip. It has been a bit of a hectic week. I started in a new department on Wednesday, so the first 2 days in the week, I had to finish everything, so there were no loose ends. Wednesday I then started working at the information desk, and with so many new things to learn... well let's just say the days went by so fast, and I was really tired when I got home, I guess it was all those new things that kept running through my mind!

By now on Sunday evening have a little extra energy so that I can post a few pictures from our vacation, though right now I feel like I could really use a vacation again. But in 22 working days I will be starting my maternity leave... on January 6th to be exact! Well moving on to the pictures...

First a picture of the airport, a bit surreal arriving here, that's not the typical sight arriving in an airport. I was really beautiful, and you could really get into the vacation mode right away.
One of the days we went on a day trip and saw a school, a church, a tobacco plantation etc. Here is a picture of a guy making cigars. My husband had 2 things he wanted to buy on our vacation, the 2 things being cigars and rum, and here we could buy the cigars a bit cheaper than at the hotel.

Then I just had to post this picture of Viivi's nephews, aren't they just cute. The youngest one charmed everyone at the wedding, though I doubt he did on purpose, but with those blond curls you just have to smile in order for everyone to fall in love with you:)

Then there is a picture of Viivi and Morgan eating their wedding cake, I just love the look on Morgans face, he really thinks he is so funny!

Then a picture of the view from our regular pool seats, this is pretty much what we saw the rest of our vacation. We spent most of our days at the pool, which is nice and relaxing, but I doubt we would have taken the long flight if we weren't attending the wedding.

The next picture is of the pool bar, which was a nice! You could jump in the pool, walk to the pool bar, get your drink and walk back to your seat... all without leaving the pool:)

The last picture is from the beach, not that we spent all that much time there. It was really windy at the beach, not cold, but too windy to relax in the beach chairs, but still beautiful!

That's all folks... that was a little tour of the Dominican Republic, or well I guess more a tour of the Dreams resort in Punta Cana! Hope you enjoyed it:)

Christmas is coming and ornament swap...

Can you believe that Christmas Eve is only 21 short days away? I'm getting a bit stressed thinking about it, because I haven't really started my Christmas shopping yet, but my sister in law came to the rescue yesterday, because she will be buying the presents for my parents in law. I have shortly started my Christmas decorating, and just wanted to share a few pictures with you.
My Christmas countdown candle, I'm hoping to be able to keep up this year, but usually I'm a few days behind at some point during December.

My little deer family that I bought last year, I love and my husband hates it. But then again he hates pretty much everything about my Christmas decorating, but I'm still decorating.

When I got home from my vacation the country was covered in snow, and it was really cold coming back. But when I got home there was a package for me in the mail. I have received my Ornament Swap from my swap partner Yiota. Here is a few pictures of what I received.
Look at the beautiful card, which she made herself, and my husband actually said he liked it, I guess bigger compliments don't come around often. The hot chocolate and snow cream ornament are just lovely, and will warm you a bit in the cold winter month.

I also got these salt dough ornaments, which she made herself with a little help from her son. I love the green one with the moose on it. I guess I got a thing for deers and mooses:) Thank you so much Yiota for the lovely ornaments.

Hope you all will have a wonderful weekend!
