Goodbye 2010 - Welcome 2011

So 2010 is getting to an end... and looking back I can hardly think of any bad things that happened this year, so 2011 really has to rock in order to beat 2010.

2010 was the year:

  • I started working in a new department, which I consider one of the best things I've done for myself workwise in years.
  • Went to Berlin, Germany during Easter, a great relaxing and fun trip.
  • Celebrated our first wedding anniversary
  • Went to Malmö, Sweden to visit an old friend (and to get my husbands camera fixed)
  • Celebrated my 31st birthday, and decided that I would now embrace growing older, so today I'm 31½ years old.
  • My dear uncle suddenly passed away - he will be missed.
  • I found out I was pregnant
  • Travelled to Singapore, Borneo, and Kuala Lumpur during our summer vacation
  • Hosted our 2nd annual Survivor party (and told all our friends that I was pregnant)
  • Started baby shopping
  • My brother and his fiance broke off their engagement and cancelled the wedding
  • I participated in my first Ornament Swap, which I hope I will be able to do again next year
  • Went to Punta Cana, The Dominican Republic on vacation, but most importantly to attend the wedding of Viivi and Morgan, the best part was seeing Viivi again for the first time in 10 years
  • Went to my first "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party"
  • Hosted Christmas Eve for the first time, which meant the first time for us to have a Christmas tree

So looking back on 2010, the only bad thing happening was my uncle passing away, otherwise it was filled with happy and wonderful times. Okay so you're reading through my list, and might be thinking that my brother and fiance breaking up being a bad thing, but I no longer look at it like that, I'm happy about them breaking up now too, we had seen a side of her we didn't knew she had (a side that would be best covered up).

So dear 2011 you better get you act together, because I expect to have another GREAT YEAR! The outlook is good though, I have only 4 days left of work next week, before starting my maternity leave, and in the middle of February I should become a mum, so bring it on 2011, I'm so ready for you!

Tomorrow I have the day off, I can't remember when I last had the 31st of December off, it's been more than 10 years I believe. To make it even better we are not hosting New Years this year, so I will have all day just to relax... or well I guess the Christmas decorations should come down tomorrow as well, they are not to see the light of 2011 before next Christmas.

Hope you all will get into 2011 safely, and I wish you all a Happy New Year!

Some busy days over Christmas...

So the Christmas days have been busy but amazing. My parents ended up calling us late in the evening on the 21st and asked if we would mind them coming on the 22nd instead of the 23rd of December, because they had promised quite a lot of snow on the 23rd, so they were more comfortable driving on the 22nd. So when I got home from work on the 22nd they had arrived, and we had a nice relaxing evening.

Both me and my husband had to work on the 23rd, but when we got home my mum had done all the laundry and ironed all my shirts, and my dad had been shovelling snow... How great is that? We had a lot of snow on the 23rd, though not so bad in the area we live, but further south where my parents live they had got a lot more, so it was a good thing they drove up here on the 22nd.

On the 24th, my mum and I prepared the dinner in the morning, or at least all that we could prepare was prepared. Around lunch time my brother arrived, and in the afternoon my parents and I went to church, while my brother and husband stayed home to "watch" the turkey... that is usually their excuse for not going to church.

After church we had a drink, and just relaxed before having the big Christmas dinner. After dinner we opened presents, which you do on Christmas Eve in Denmark. Oh boy did we get a lot of presents! We got so much baby stuff that it could as well have been a baby shower (which we don't have in Denmark). We got a bed, a baby alarm, a tilted chair, clothes, a few books etc.

The bed and some of the other stuff we got, after putting the bed together Gustav wanted to check it out!

On the 25th my parents and brother left, and we had a relaxing day, and in the evening we went to dinner with my parents in law and my sister in law and her boyfriend. Since my sister in law had been working on Christmas Eve we exchanged gifts with her on the 25th... and yet again we had another baby shower, I believe she has emptied out the baby store, we got a changing mat, linens, a big giraffe, a thermometer, a wash basin and some clothes! So now I believe that we are all ready for the baby to come.

On the 26th we went to a Christmas party with my cousins, uncle and aunts, we had a really great day, but since we got a lot of snow during the day, we left fairly early in order to get home before too much snow came.
My brother and my cousins at the party, I guess my brother is showing something of interest on his phone!

On the 27th I had to work all day for 12 hours, which I kinda feared, since that would be the big gift exchange day, but for some reason we didn't have all that many customers yesterday, most of them I guess waited for today, because today has been really busy! So I was glad when I could leave at 4 o'clock!

I guess that was my Christmas, all that is left is to wish you all a Happy New Year, see you in 2011!

Merry Christmas

Just a short post to wish you all a Merry Christmas, can you believe it's only 3 days away?
Well I have finished all the Christmas shopping, all presents are wrapped, almost all food is bought (only a short list left for tomorrow), the Christmas tree got decorated on Sunday, so all I have left is pretty much just a little tidying up and cleaning and then I'm ready for Christmas:)

I have included a picture of our Christmas tree, I took it from the best angle, so you won't be able to see how crooked it really is, but I guess it has its charm. My husband were laughing quite a bit over my choice before he decided to help me trying to get it more straight.

My parents will be coming on the 23rd, and my brother will probably not be joining us until the 24th. We will be having dinner made by my mum, and as we do in Denmark we will be opening presents on the 24th in the evening. My family will be leaving again on the 25th, and in the evening we will be having dinner with my in laws. On the 26th we will be going to my family Christmas party with my cousins, uncle and aunts, which is always fun, but since I'm always working in the 27th we will have to drive back the same day.

Hope you all will have a Merry Christmas!

Handball, Christmas Gifts and friends

So Yesterday I had the day off, which was very much needed after we spent Tuesday evening at the handball game between Denmark and Croatia. We were back around midnight, and at that point I was exhausted. But it was so worth it, the Danish girls played amazing, and we won big! 31-19! It was really amazing being at the arena, and hearing 11.300 people singing the national anthem, that will give you goosebumps:) So even though they have a game again tonight, it doesn't really matter, because they have now qualified for the semifinals, which unfortunately are being played on Saturday while I'm at work!

Shortly after I got up yesterday (Yep I slept in, isn't that what days off are for?) my cell phone rang. It was an old colleague of mine, who usually buy some of my mums Christmas cards, but had forgotten all about it, because she isn't working at the moment, because she is waiting on a smaller operation. Luckily I had a few cards left, so I could sell her those. So I stopped by her on my way to buy my last Christmas presents. So we chatted, drank tea and ate cookies... is there a better way to start a shopping trip?

Afterwards I went to the city to buy the last presents, and I actually finished that rather fast! I also went to another competing department store, and while working Monday night we had heard that their clothing department had a fire. So all the clothes that was left (which wasn't much) were 50% off, so I was lucky to get a bit more baby clothes! When I got home I started wrapping presents, which I love, and I do believe I do a better job than in some stores. I have actually before unwrapped presents they have wrapped at the store, and then wrapped them all over myself. I always thought the worst at wrapping was in mens clothing stores, let's face it a guy can't wrap a present. But yesterday I went to bodyshop and I wasn't impressed, that was a place I really thought they would do something fancy... but I was wrong, so I guess I need to do that one over as well:) I had to take a break from wrapping though, because my back were starting to kill me (oh the joys of pregnancy). I usually have everything out on the floor, and I guess my body was fit to sitting on the floor that long:)

Have fun, I got to get to work!

I'm a bit excited for this week!

First you will see a picture of my sweater from last nights Ugly Christmas Sweater Party. I didn't win for the best sweater, but I still believe I should have! My husband actually won, and I made his as well, but I didn't actually get a picture of him, so hopefully someone else took some, and I will get them later. But he only won because the prize was a garden gnome, and our friends knows he hates everything about Christmas, so they had arranged the votes... so unfair! I should have won.... I'm not bitter at all... or well maybe just a bit:) Check out my sweater, with lights and everything, don't you agree I should have won?

This coming week is going to be a bit exciting as well. Right now the European Championship in Women's Handball is going on, and some games are played in Denmark and some are played in Norway. On Tuesday we have tickets to go see some games, yeah! Their are 3 games being played at an arena an hour away from us, when you buy a ticket you have access to all three games that day. The first one will start at 16.45, but we probably won't make it before the second game, we have to get off work first. The last game being played is Denmark-Croatia, we will probably miss part of the game Romania-Montenegro, but will for sure also be watching the second game Spain-Russia. So I'm super excited that we are going to see the games, the Danish women has so far won their first 3 games, not that they have been playing all that well, but they won, and I guess that is all that matters. Tomorrow they are playing Russia, which I doubt they will win, but then again, I didn't think they would win over Romania and they did.

And then on Wednesday I have the day off! Yeah! So I will have to get the last Christmas shopping done, and actually I don't have a lot left, so I guess I will also have time to relax a bit, and maybe go and get our Christmas tree.

After that the rest of the week, will be a bit boring, because I will be working! So both Friday and Saturday I will be there till closing time, but at least I will have Sunday off, so I guess it's not all too bad.

Ohh before I stop I just have to tell you a funny story. On Friday I met an old friend of mine at the store I work at, I was sitting at the cash register, and we just talked for a short while. Then I just talk to my parents this afternoon, and they had run into her today, and talked a while. Somehow my mum had said something about me only working there for a short while now, and she had asked why. She hadn't realised that I was pregnant, and I guess she hadn't heard. She had thought I had gained weight, but as she said to my mum, don't we all! But when my mum said I was 7 months pregnant she had said, well then she hasn't gained much weight! They had laughed a bit about it, and she was a bit shocked. So I just wrote her on facebook, that I heard she thought I had gained weight:)

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and that you will have a great week ahead!

Ugly Christmas Sweater Party

Tonight we are going to our first "Ugly Christmas Sweater Party" at some friends house, I'm super excited about it, and I spent quite a bit of time last weekend making our sweaters, and I bet if there is a competition we will win, if there isn't... well we will still rock the party! I will post pictures of the sweaters, but you will have to wait till another day, I'm not giving it away yet:)
Everyone at the party is suppose to bring some food, and we have been trusted with the starters. So I have just been roasting duck breast which will be served cold on some salad with my own home made dressing made from lemon juice, soy sauce, garlic and chili. So I hope everyone will like it, and I can't wait to see what everyone else is bringing.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I'm trying to see the good things...

But it's a bit hard right now... I'm beyond tired, and can't wait for the weekend to come. The days at work still runs by so fast, that suddenly I'm off, and I don't know where the day has gone, but it also leaves me really tired and with swollen feet!
After work I tried to get a Christmas present for my husbands Godson, he told us he was hoping for at Starwars Stratego game, but the 2 places I tried it was sold out...
After I got home I wanted to iron my shirt for tomorrow, but my iron doesn't heat up...
So can you blame me for not being too positive? Well as I said I'm trying to look at the good things, and I have now found the game online, and they say they will deliver before the weekend, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I have also cleaned my iron, and are hoping that it will heat up when I try later on.
Another good thing is my brother and his ex girl friend have just sold their house... my brother was a bit sad about it, because this wasn't what he expected when they bought the dream house... but sorry for saying this.... Thank God he is not with her any longer, we have now seen the true side of her, and it's not pretty... cheating b**** So I guess them calling off their wedding is also a good thing:)
And now I'm going to lay on the couch, feet up, with my home-made Christmas cookies and watch a new episode of my favourite show "Desperate Housewives".
Hope you all have just a bit more energy than me:)

A few vacation pictures

Finally it seems like life is a bit back to normal again after our trip. It has been a bit of a hectic week. I started in a new department on Wednesday, so the first 2 days in the week, I had to finish everything, so there were no loose ends. Wednesday I then started working at the information desk, and with so many new things to learn... well let's just say the days went by so fast, and I was really tired when I got home, I guess it was all those new things that kept running through my mind!

By now on Sunday evening have a little extra energy so that I can post a few pictures from our vacation, though right now I feel like I could really use a vacation again. But in 22 working days I will be starting my maternity leave... on January 6th to be exact! Well moving on to the pictures...

First a picture of the airport, a bit surreal arriving here, that's not the typical sight arriving in an airport. I was really beautiful, and you could really get into the vacation mode right away.
One of the days we went on a day trip and saw a school, a church, a tobacco plantation etc. Here is a picture of a guy making cigars. My husband had 2 things he wanted to buy on our vacation, the 2 things being cigars and rum, and here we could buy the cigars a bit cheaper than at the hotel.

Then I just had to post this picture of Viivi's nephews, aren't they just cute. The youngest one charmed everyone at the wedding, though I doubt he did on purpose, but with those blond curls you just have to smile in order for everyone to fall in love with you:)

Then there is a picture of Viivi and Morgan eating their wedding cake, I just love the look on Morgans face, he really thinks he is so funny!

Then a picture of the view from our regular pool seats, this is pretty much what we saw the rest of our vacation. We spent most of our days at the pool, which is nice and relaxing, but I doubt we would have taken the long flight if we weren't attending the wedding.

The next picture is of the pool bar, which was a nice! You could jump in the pool, walk to the pool bar, get your drink and walk back to your seat... all without leaving the pool:)

The last picture is from the beach, not that we spent all that much time there. It was really windy at the beach, not cold, but too windy to relax in the beach chairs, but still beautiful!

That's all folks... that was a little tour of the Dominican Republic, or well I guess more a tour of the Dreams resort in Punta Cana! Hope you enjoyed it:)

Christmas is coming and ornament swap...

Can you believe that Christmas Eve is only 21 short days away? I'm getting a bit stressed thinking about it, because I haven't really started my Christmas shopping yet, but my sister in law came to the rescue yesterday, because she will be buying the presents for my parents in law. I have shortly started my Christmas decorating, and just wanted to share a few pictures with you.
My Christmas countdown candle, I'm hoping to be able to keep up this year, but usually I'm a few days behind at some point during December.

My little deer family that I bought last year, I love and my husband hates it. But then again he hates pretty much everything about my Christmas decorating, but I'm still decorating.

When I got home from my vacation the country was covered in snow, and it was really cold coming back. But when I got home there was a package for me in the mail. I have received my Ornament Swap from my swap partner Yiota. Here is a few pictures of what I received.
Look at the beautiful card, which she made herself, and my husband actually said he liked it, I guess bigger compliments don't come around often. The hot chocolate and snow cream ornament are just lovely, and will warm you a bit in the cold winter month.

I also got these salt dough ornaments, which she made herself with a little help from her son. I love the green one with the moose on it. I guess I got a thing for deers and mooses:) Thank you so much Yiota for the lovely ornaments.

Hope you all will have a wonderful weekend!

I'm back! And this is my Tuesday!

So I finally got around to blogging again... we arrived home on Saturday morning, but between the lack of sleep, jet-lag and working all day yesterday, well I just haven't got around to sorting pictures and blogging. We did have a fantastic trip, so relaxing and full of sun.

I haven't really sorted out pictures yet, they are now in the computer instead of the camera, but that is pretty much how far I got. So I will blog more about the trip another day, when I'm a bit more organised. But I will post a few pictures from the wedding, it was fantastic! Well I will just show you a few pictures, I guess that is the best way to describe it!
Viivi walking down the aisle, she was followed by her nephew (does he look handsome?), unfortunately her father had a heart attack just 3 weeks ahead of the wedding, he had gone through surgery and was all fine, but wasn't allowed to fly. I can't imagine not having my dad there on my wedding day, and I can't imagine how her father felt missing his daugther's wedding!
Viivi and Morgan's first kiss as man and wife, and speaking about "firsts" you have to check out their first dance, it was hilarious, so well planned you can't believe it. Someone put it on you-tube, and here is the link, she has better version on her facebook, but I can't figure out how to copy it, so you will have to manage with you-tube. So watch it and I will bet it puts a smile on your face:)

Today is also Tuesday, and I'm kind of glad that Wendy forgot about it last week, because that means I'm able to play along on the "this is my Tuesday" and the theme this week is friendship. I guess Wendy stole my picture and story, so I will stick to a very recent photo instead. But just as Wendy I have friends different places in the world, and it seems like real friends are the ones where you down feel like you grow apart just because you don't see each other every week or month. So here is a picture of me and Viivi as parts of our Charlie's angels gang:) Don't mind my hair, it was really humid and my hair was a mess!
I first met Viivi back in 1998 when I went to Maryland, USA to be an Au Pair. A few days after arriving out coordinator had a BBQ party for all the Au Pairs in the area, and that's where I met Viivi for the first time. She was from Finland and also the only one from her country, so I guess that was the first thing we had in common. Pretty much everyone else were Swedish or German, so I guess we just felt a bit more alone (or at least we imagined we did). Viivi had arrived about 1½ month before me, so she showed me around, so I guess it kind of was her fault I fell in love with Mrs. Fields chocolate chip cookies, cinnabons, smoothies our local pizzeria etc. but she also showed me the best shopping malls. After a few weeks Camilla (a swede) arrived, and she lived just a few streets from me, so we took the kids to the same playground etc. So our little gang turned into 3, and we had the best of times. Unfortunately I don't have any digital pictures from that time, but I will try some day to get some of the scanned. The 3 of us were pretty much always together when we were off work, besides shopping, one of our favorite things to do, were going to the movies or hanging out at Viivi's and watch Melrose Place. For some reason that I don't remember we started posing like Charlie's Angels in a lot of our group photos (this was before the angels were Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz). So on Viivi's wedding day we wanted to take a picture and sent to Camilla, so that she could see we were missing and thinking about her.

So I guess that will be my post for today, sorry that it got a bit long. I will post more about our trip another day. If you want to play along just link up to Red Boots.

My bags are packed...

I believe I started a post like this during the summer as well, but nonetheless it's true.

Though after finding my suitcases, while drinking my coffee, before getting around to packing I got the feeling that someone wants to come along...

But I have to disapoint Gustav, he can't come along. But I guess if he knew it would involve driving a car, flying a plane and driving a car again, we he would regret before we would reach the end of our own street. Besides my parents are coming here to babysit the cats, so I bet as soon as they are here he has forgotten all about us, as long as someone is feeding him, he won't care about us.

So I will probably not be blogging over the next week or so, but I know I will enjoy my vacation! And I can't wait to see Viivi again, I haven't seen her for 10 years, so that will be so much fun!

On another note I was just wondering if you are fat if someone ask is they have to tie your shoes for you? The other day at work one of my colleagues asked if he should tie my shoelace for me, because I had trouble reaching my feet! I was nice of him, but I did feel fat, but just for the record I did tie my shoes myself:)

This is my Tuesday...

Again this week I'm joining in on Red-boots "this is my Tuesday" and the theme this week is happiness. The hard thing is choosing just one picture, I could just link up to the other three "This is my Tuesday" posts. So here is what I chose...
It's from my bachelorette party, but the happiness is being around friends, and having friends that care so much that they take time out of their busy schedule to plan a super day for you. My bachelorette party was planned so we were 2 teams competing against each other in a lot of silly games, and I never get too old to play:) In the last game we ended up winning, so I even got a gold medal. I was a bit unfair though, because every time I had to compete for our team if only one person were competing, and the other team could pick who they thought were the best at it! But I'm still to this day really proud of being able to fit 23 marsh mellows in my mouth at once... and the girl I competed against only got 13, but I had to go first, and when I got to 12 she looked a bit scared, but hey I would have done the same just to try to get her to think I could do that...
So my happiness is having friends that cares:)
Next weeks theme is friends, but since I'll be on vacation I won't be able to join in, so I guess this post can be used there as well:)
On another note, I got around to mailing my ornaments today, so Yiota should soon have mail:)
Well I'm off now, I really need to start packing... I hate that! But it seems like the clothes don't jump into the suitcase by itself.

The weekend is coming to an end...

But vacation time is coming closer:) So today I have been doing laundry, so I should soon be ready to go to The Dominican Republic. Though I just realised that we have to get up freaking early on Friday, well I have known that since we ordered the tickets, but I haven't realised it until now! We are flying out at 5.45 am and have to check in an hour ahead of time (at first I thought it would be 2 hours before, but thankfully 1 hour is enough), and the drive to the airport takes about 45 minutes, so we have to head out the door at 4.00 am the latest. I guess I'm heading to bed early on Thursday!

I also got around to writing the Christmas card to my ornament swap partner, but I didn't get around to go to the post office yesterday, so hopefully I'll be able to leave work in time to reach the post office before closing on Tuesday.

Last night we had a Christmas party with work, which was really nice. Though a few of the girls had done all the cooking, and I went early to help getting everything ready, and some people just have a lack of manners! When the time came to get the dishes done people just stayed seated... so we got a bit pissed, and some of the young boys came to help. But this one girl really pissed me off, she said she did enough dishes at home, and we could just leave them, it was our own fault we had volunteered to arrange everything! How could she be like that? Would it hurt her to help out with the dishes for 2o minutes or so? And how would she feel if she was hosting the party (which our boss was) and you would wake up to a whole lot of mess including the dishes? That is just the least you can do I think, but I guess some people are raised differently.

Yesterday we got to move a closet into our office, I had bought a really cheap one at work, but it had been in the garage the last week, because it was too heavy for me to lift. So yesterday a friend of ours came by to help. It turned out it was a bit too big to get into the room assembled, so we had to take it apart and move it and put it back together again... so it took a bit longer than expected, but so nice to finally have some extra storage. So we are getting closer to get the baby's room cleared, somehow that room has just been used for extra storage, but no longer.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Ornament swap and great friends!

This weekend can only be a good one. I start this evening having 2 former colleagues over for dinner and maybe there baby girls. They weren't sure they would bring their girls, or if they were going to spent quality time with their dads!
We are just going to enjoy ourselves with a little Mexican dinner, a lot of Christmas candy and even more talking!

via

Tomorrow I hope to get around to going to writing my first Christmas card and going to the post office. I got my ornament swap partner, and it's Yiota over at Shells and bells flowers and showers and I have now bought the ornaments and should soon be ready to mail them. I figured I better get around to doing it this weekend, otherwise I'm not sure I will get it done in time, because next week I will be busy at work finishing a lot of this before my vacation and before handing everything over the girl coming back from her maternity leave. And when not working I will be packing and getting ready for my vacation!

Tomorrow evening we will be having a work Christmas party, which I'm sure will be lots of fun:) But it will also be my third Christmas party out of three weekends, so it will be good to get away on vacation next weekend. The party we went to last weekend they had bought alcohol free beer, which tasted just like normal beer, and a bit more fun drinking those than drinking coke all night. So I went ahead a bought some for myself for tomorrow.

So it looks like a good weekend ahead, and did I mention that next Friday I will be on a plane to the Dominican Republic?

Have a nice weekend everyone!

This is my Tuesday

Again this week I'm joining in on Red-boots weekly series of "This is my Tuesday". This week the theme is Family. And let's face it that is a hard one, well it really shouldn't be, but my family aren't really all that good at taking group pictures, I can't remember that we have ever done that... so trying to find some of my family on my computer has been more or less impossible! I do believe that my parents has some, but I don't have those at hand at the moment and I don't have a scanner that is working. Can you believe I don't even have a picture with both my parents and me from our wedding... I've got one of my and my dad, but none of me and my mum...

But to me family is the people who surround me, not only the ones that I'm blood related to, but a lot of our friends also feels like family, therefore I have chosen this picture...

It's a picture from our wedding, it's of us walking in, but surrounded by friends and family. I believe it's okay to post a picture of friends as well, after all friends are the family we choose ourselves!
Have a nice week! And if you want to play along just remember to link up to Red-Boots.

2 short weeks!

In 2 short weeks I will be off to Punta Cana in the Domonican Republic... YEAH! Just 10 more days of work, and the we have to get up freaking early on Friday to leave for the airport. So if you in a few weeks hear about a stranded whale on the beach in Punta Cana, you might want to alert Greenpeace, because that will just be me relaxing on the beach:)

After my vacation I will only have 2 more working days in the Garden Center and then I will be working at the information desk for the month of December. Afterwards I will be back in the Garden Center again, but that will only be for a week or 2, because then I will be going on leave... man time goes fast, can you believe Christmas is less than 2 months away? Speaking about Christmas, I have signed up for the Ornament Swap over at Dolce Vita. I remember reading about it last year, but back then I was all new to the blogging world, but this year I will be joining, and I have all ready been eying some great ornaments at work, but so far I haven't been able to choose... but you should join in, you have till November 7th.

Right now I'm again looking forward to the weekend, though I feel like I have a bit more energy now than I had last week. On Saturday we are again going to a Christmas party, I just love the food:) On Sunday we are going to my parents place to celebrate my brothers birthday a bit early, but it was the only date that fit us all. Last weekend I pretty much spent sleeping... really interesting! I slept really late on Saturday, and the relaxed until we went to the Christmas party, and then slept in late on Sunday, went grocery shopping and then pretty much slept all day! I didn't even have the energy to cook dinner, so my husband made himself a sandwich, and I didn't eat anything, I just slept! And I was still tired Monday! But this week just seems to have given me a bit more energy, so hopefully I don't have to spent all weekend sleeping:)

Hope you all will have a wonderful weekend then it comes:)

This is my Tuesday...

Again this week I'm joining in on Wendy's Tuesdays project. This weeks theme is vacation, and of course I have to join in there. The hard thing is choosing just one picture, but I will try.

Okay I couldn't stop at one picture, but they do kind of go together. Just imagine spending the night at the above boat, and sitting on the deck with a cold beer, seeing the sun set on the thousand little islands below...

The pictures is from out vacation last year, which was also our honeymoon. We spent 10 days travelling around Vietnam and Cambodia. The pictures are the the day and night we spent on Halong bay in the North of Vietnam. It was just plain amazing, we had just spent 2 nights in Hanoi, and before that we had been 4 nights in Kuala Lumpur, so suddenly we were on the ocean and the silence was just breathtaking. We were pretty much the only ones on the top deck after the sun had gone down, it seemed that everyone else had been travelling from Europe just days before and were still jetlagged. But being the only ones on the sun deck in the night didn't stop us from having a party on our own.

I can definitely recommend you to visit Vietnam. I really look forward to our baby being bigger so that we can travel with him as well, so he also can see the world.

Ready to relax...

Finally the weekend is here, I hate that the pregnancy is making me so tired! But tonight I'm staying on the couch, my husband went out with some old friends from University, so I got the TV all to myself... though nothing really good is on, so now I'm "watching" "Dancing with the stars", not so much watching as it is more background noise...

Tomorrow we are going to the first Christmas party this year, which I'm looking forward to, because by then I will have more energy and will be ready to party all night, well at least I will be able to enjoy all the good food.

The pregnancy has changed a few things in my life, both good and bad! I believe my temper has become a bit more like in my teen years... not a good thing! I have become more crafty... or well I now finish things, not only just start them... a good thing, because I made this and my baby boy is going to be wearing it after he is born...

We are still discussing names, and some people say you don't know what to call him until he is here... I don't know if they are right. But I do know I'm not naming him Gareth.... Wendy! Thanks for the suggestion, but it ain't happening;) I also had a colleague suggest that I would name him Gustav, which is a quite popular name here now, but that ain't happening either because I do believe Gustav the cat will be a bit annoyed having to share his name... and I doubt we need to piss him more off, because he will be annoyed that he will not get all the attention any longer.

On another note I just realised that tomorrow it will be 1 year since I started my blog... wow a lot have happened since, back then I just started writing thinking no one would ever read it, and no I do have a few regular readers, and I'm happy you have been sticking around, and all your comments makes me smile and really feel appreciated, so thank you all:)

I hope you all will have a wonderful Halloween weekend, which I by the way wished would be celebrated more in Denmark... so no dressing up for me this year!

This is my Tuesday...

Last week my friend Wendy over at redboots started a new series, I didn't get to participate last week, but this week you can't stop me. The topic this week is Love!

So here it is... This is my Love!

I guess that one is easy:) I hate the picture though, but so far it's the only one I have of my belly. It's a few weeks old, and my husband took it just after I arrive home after working all day Saturday and Sunday, I was just ready to lie on the couch. But I do love my belly... or I guess I love what's inside.

Today I have the day of, but I do have an doctors appointment in about an hour and a half so maybe I should go get ready. So far I have only been eating breakfast, drinking coffee and reading blogs... so I guess a shower is in order next.

I had a long weekend, but I'm proud to say I wasn't nearly as exhausted as last time I worked the entire weekend. And our shelves at the store are now packed with Christmas decorations, of course that puts a smile on my face, and since putting that up all Sunday somehow made the Sunday go by fast.

I also got to the Baby Bazaar on Sunday, but I guess I have bought a lot of stuff all ready so I didn't really buy much. Though there were a lot of toys, but I figured there is going to be a bazaar again in April, so I'll wait a bit with the toys. Though I must say a lot of the clothes people were selling I wasn't too impressed with, it had been washed way too many times, I don't get why you would try and sell that?

Ohh well this is my Tuesday, pop over to redboots and participate, and next weeks theme is vacation, so you can count me in there too:)

A busy weekend is ahead...

This weekend is going to be a busy one, and I almost can't wait for it to be over, and Tuesday to be here, so I have the day off.

It's going to be an exciting weekend as well, but right now I'm so tired I can't see my way out of it. I have to work the whole weekend, but luckily I can start late tomorrow, so I'm not meeting until noon. On Saturday I will be working all day as well, and when I get home my parents will be here, and we are going out for dinner.

On Sunday our whole department are going to build our Christmas department, which I'm really excited about, I always get in a really good mood when the Christmas decorations comes out.

Though on Sunday a friend of mine is also arranging something called a "Baby Bazaar", which she has done 3 times before, with lots of success. I have never attended one, for obvious reasons (not having a baby), but it's a place where you can book a table and sell all your old baby stuff. So I'm leaving from the Christmas building a few hours, so that my mum and I can go to the bazaar and see if there is anything I need. I'm sure there is a lot of things I would love to have, and I'm looking forward to spending a little time with my mum.

But I'm also looking forward till Tuesday where I will have the day off, and I will be able to sleep in late.

I hope you all will have a wonderful weekend.

Wonderful weekend!

I just had the most wonderful weekend this weekend, and it isn't over yet! We started Friday evening having dinner at my sister in law, it was her birthday yesterday, but since we wouldn't be able to make it on her birthday, she decided to celebrate on Friday. There is nothing better than being invited out for dinner... mostly because then I don't have to cook myself...

She had cooked a delicious dinner, and we really enjoyed ourselves, and we got to meet her new boyfriend, whom seemed really nice, and we are looking forward to getting to know him better.

My sister in law and me on our vacation in Singapore, I must admit my drink was a virgin... though we fooled people when posting it on Facebook, and at that time no one knew I was pregnant.

My parents in law were there too, and I do believe they are a wee bit excited about being grandparents soon... because my mother in law had been looking for a baby duvet, but hadn't found one. But just before leaving for the birthday she had seen there were one on sale this Monday at the department store I'm working at, so she gave me money so I could buy it myself. And I got some money from them and my parents as a subsidy to the stroller (they didn't know I all ready bought one), but I can easily spent those money on something else:)

On Saturday I started cleaning out the closet at the baby room, all that stuff we have saved, and for what? So a lot got thrown out... I can't believe all the winter jackets I actually had... though not many of them will fit this winter, and even if the did I probably wouldn't wear them... so now we are giving my mum them, so she can take them to the Red Cross second hand shop she is working at once a week, and then I can feel like having done a good deed!

Saturday evening we went to a friends 30Th birthday party, which really excited me, because once again I didn't have to cook, but I know he is the best chef... and I wasn't disappointed. He just came home in July from spending 2 years in Singapore, so off course we had to start with a Singapore Sling, and as the amazing host he is, he had made virgin Singapore Slings for me:)

Today I have been cleaning another closets, and now will spent the rest of the day relaxing with a good cup of coffee... or probably more.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend...

All those thing you need to get ready...

Oh boy you need a lot of stuff when expecting a baby, I know I have said it before, but it still seems to surprise me. But I'm trying not to go overboard, but I'm really excited so every once in a while I need to buy something the our boy:)

Though right now the department store I'm working in is celebrating their 40Th anniversary, which is done with a lot of great sales. So on Sunday I got a few items to get ready... and the best thing is that it might be cheap, but I get an 8 % discount on all non-food items I buy at our store:) (and 6 % on food items).
So as said on Sunday I got these items...

A BornFree start set including 4 bottles, a couple of pacifiers, brush for cleaning bottles and a sterilizer for sterilizing the bottles.

A kids table and 2 chairs, which is actually all buckets with lids, so my boy can store some of his toys in there.

A baby towel, one of those there has a hat on it.

Today I went shopping again... and got a "snowsuit", because I do remember while working in the clothing department how many parents asked for snowsuits in January, and we had been sold out for months... so I got one today.

Tomorrow our department store is having a 40% sale on all prams and strollers. So even though I had said I wanted to wait a bit longer before buying in, but it's not getting this cheap again, and then the 8% on top of it... well I'm buying a pram tomorrow!

This is not the exact same model I'm getting, but close, the wheels will be a bit bigger and the tray underneath will be netting instead and the pram itself will be a bit bigger. So when February come we will be driving in style!
So now I have to wait a bit before buying more stuff... or well who knows, I might find another really good offer, which will be to good to pass up:)

Fill In The Blank Friday

It's been a busy week at work, and it isn't over yet since I'm working both Saturday and Sunday. So not much have happened this week, and not much to tell, but I decided to join Lauren's fun over at The Little Things We Do.

1. The first thing I do in the morning to start my day is get in shower and get ready for work. If I don't decide to snooze too much I will have time for a cup of coffee and a little morning TV before leaving.

2. Today I wish I was not working tomorrow, and then I would go somewhere exciting. Instead I will be staying home, going to bed early... or maybe not, because Denmark is playing a soccer game against Portugal tonight, and I might have to cheer for them... or maybe for Portugal (I made a bet at work saying Portugal would win 1-0).

3. If I had an extra $100 in my bank account today I'd go buy a lot of baby stuff... I have a really long list of things we need to get before the baby arriving... good thing Christmas is coming before the baby:)

4. Tomorrow I will be at work from 7.30 am till 6.15 pm and then dinner will probably consist on some takeaway and the rest of the night will be spent on the couch before heading to bed early as I will be working again Sunday!

5. Two things that don't go together are my sick husband this week and my temper... I'm not good at coping with his whining... as some of you might have seen he also commented on my last post saying he had a flu which only hit men, and which is much more dangerous than the one women and children gets...

6. Something I can never pass up at the grocery store is chocolate milk... well that is something I haven't been able pass up after I got pregnant, it kind of magically jumps into my cart!

7. The last time I tried something new was does a new chocolate bar with cookies and cream count? Because they had someone handing out tests on them at work today... otherwise I can't quite remember. Though I have signed up for a Zumba class next Saturday, but so far I'm still on a waiting list. Oh and of course being pregnant is new to me and going to the midwife yesterday was also something new... oh so I don try new things every once in a while:)

Have a happy weekend!

A wonderful busy weekend

This weekend is the last in a long time where I didn't have any plans, over the next couple of months I will either be working, we will be a different parties or on vacation.

So when we got up on Saturday we started clearing the room that is going to be the baby's room. My husband drove away with some stuff and I cleaned the room, and then painted it. I had hoped it wasn't necessary since we have hardly used the room, but after clearing everything out it need a bit of paint. The worst part is probably getting everything ready for painting, because after a few hours of painting I was all done!
I still have the closets to clean out, but that is a project for another day:) In the afternoon we were invited to the neighbours, because they had been celebrating her birthday with their families on Friday evening, and had a ton of cheese and crackers leftover from the dessert. And they know if there is something we really love, well then it's cheese and crackers (it was actually the dessert at our wedding, due to my husband not eating ice cream, cake etc.) Eating all the cheese resulted in us not really being hungry for dinner.
Saturday evening was spent on the couch watching TV and just relaxing. Nice change from the many busy weekends to come.
This morning we decided to go out for brunch, which was really nice. Somehow brunch is just a lot better when people are serving you, and you don't have to make it yourself. The bad thing is there are so many things to choose from, and you eat way to much. So I skipped lunch, but I guess that is the idea of brunch anyways!
This afternoon I did all the ironing, which has been growing on me, but after about an hour of ironing, there is nothing left... at least for a few days! Otherwise Sunday has been spent relaxing, watching our local soccer team play, but since we thought it was too cold to go see it, we watched it on TV.
Now my husband has gone to bed, he is starting to feel a bit under the weather. So now I'm just happy I have to work late tomorrow, so I don't have to listen to him whine. How come men a so pathetic when they are sick?

It's a ....

This morning we went to the hospital to get the second and last ultrasound. I'm now 20 weeks pregnant, and the ultrasound was going to show if something was wrong, and hopefully the sex of the baby!

The nurse had hardly got the scanner in hand before I told her I wanted to know the sex if she was able to see it. So she started measuring everything, showing us the little heartbeat, both arms, both legs, the kidneys, the stomach, the brain etc. all while I was thinking "can she see what it is? does she all ready know? why isn't she telling me?" I guess she was just teasing, because in the end she told us it was a boy, so in 20 short weeks we will be parents to a healthy baby boy:) Hopefully this is going to make it easier to come up with names, but if you have any suggestions I'm all ears:)

via

My mum asked what we had been hoping for, and honestly we were just hoping for a healthy baby, but knowing the sex ahead of time is just so much more practical. So even though it's not a 100% sure, we are now planning for a boy. Everything just seems so more real now.

My brother was hoping for a boy, so he would grow up a be a soccer player, and hopefully play for his favourite local team, but if he weren't any good he could stay with our favorite team:)

So now we can start buying blue things, I'm so excited!

What is it going to be?

Over the last couple of weeks I have really started wondering if the baby is going to be a boy or a girl, not that it matters. I have an ultrasound coming up on Wednesday, and if the baby is in the right position they will be able to tell if its a boy or a girl... I always thought I didn't wanted to know, but now I'm just way too curious, so if they will be able to see - well then I want to know.
A lot of people have been asking me if I have any idea as to what sex the baby is, but no I don't! Some people don't get, they are like "But you must have a feeling!" but no I don't have a feeling... what should I feel if it's a boy? Should I feel different if it's a girl? Then there is all the old wives tales... if you don't have any morning sickness it's a boy... well then I guess it's a boy, or all the other tales... some will say it's a girl other it's a boy. My sister in law has a feeling it's a boy, my mums friend says it's a girl... what am I suppose to think it is? Well come Wednesday I'll hopefully know for sure!

Then there is the talk about baby names... well I always thought that was going to be easy. But also this is a bit different than what I expected. Let's face it... I haven't given it much thought so far, because what it the use of thinking of girls names if it's a boy and vice versa? But I don't want the baby to have a name that is too common, so there will be 3 or 4 of them in the same class, but I don't want it to be too geeky either so he or she will be teased. I always though I wanted a name that would be easily pronounced in English too, but now when I start to think about names that might be up for debate. Whenever I ask my husband he says "Frank Jr. if it's a boy and Frankie if it's a girl" I guess he has just as hard time as me coming up with a good name, and his suggestions are not even up for discussion! Let's face it Frank Junior... the picture that pops into mind is Phoebe's (friends) younger brother, and as charming as he is, that is not going to happen:)
Hopefully some of my questions will be answered by Wednesday, and then I can come up with a really great name!

Am I getting spoiled or fooled?

I'm looking at it like I'm being spoiled... when you're pregnant a lot of stores and companies are offering free gifts. I know they are doing this in hope of getting new customers, but I do feel I have a judgement of my own, and I'm not fooled by the free gifts, but then again I'm not stupid so of course I will take the free gifts!

So far I have picked up 2 of my free gifts, which have included a pack of diapers, shampoo for me and the baby, lotion, oil etc. for the baby, nursing pads, several magazines, stain remover and best of all a diaper bucket for used diapers, which will kill the smell of the diapers... Here is a picture of what I have got so far...

I still have one store where I can pick up a free gift. Then there will be a gift I can pick up 4 weeks before giving birth, then I have signed up for getting free baby food, which a company will send me around the time the baby will be 4 months. There are so many places you can sign up for free gifts online, so I actually can't keep track of how many I have signed up for. I'm only keeping track off the ones that I have to pick up myself. The rest will be sent to me at home, so I'm preparing to get excited to open the mail over the next few months.

Is there anything better than free gifts? And is there any reason not to say yes to free gifts from big companies?

Enjoy your weekend!

What a disapointment!

I'm so disappointed you wouldn't believe it. The party last night had been blown up to being the biggest thing ever... and what did we get? I don't know where to begin... first we had to sit on benches at the tables, so nowhere to lean on, and my butt is killing me today... not the best place to sit, and definitely not the best place to sit when being pregnant! When we arrived at each plate there was 1 beer, 1 alcoholic welcome drink and 1 bottle of water and then there were wine at the tables. So this was all we got to drink for 3 hours till the bar opened. I must admit the great food didn't taste the same when drinking water. I of course had plenty of water, because no one wanted that, but we had hardly begun dinner before people ran out of beer, and a lot of them don't drink wine... so after negotiating for a while they would open the bar for 10 minutes for people to get beer, but no I couldn't get a soda!

When the bar finally opened some colleagues went to get drinks and asked for a coke for me, which the bartender couldn't make... what the f*** you can make rum and coke, but a plain coke... what is up with that? So I was drinking water all night, I didn't care to try another bartender. Though I found some coffee at one point which was nice for a change.

Then we all thought some big name would come and perform... but no! We got 3 cover bands, the first one was so lousy, I can't begin to describe them... the next one was actually really good, but we were all a bit too disappointed to give them credit for their great job! The last one was a Michael Jackson cover, and honestly... he wasn't that good!

And then there was the little thing about the toilets, how does 21 toilets for 2800 people sound? Like a lot of queue... yep about half an hour before you had to go you would have to stand in line... when you're pregnant you have to go quite often, so imagine where I spent most of my evening!

Uhh sorry for the negative attitude, but this was really not what I expected. If I had only known I would have stayed home, and not having been tired today, we got home at 5.30 this morning...

On a happy note then I just realised that this is my 100Th post:)

It's party time...

First of all thank you for all the get well wishes, it always makes me feel a bit better.
Tonight I'm going to a really BIG PARTY. The chain of our department store is celebrating their 40Th anniversary. So tonight we are all going to a big party, well we are too many for them to fit all in one place. So we are being split up in 2, and our store is partying with 7 other stores, and we will end up being 2.800 people in one place! There will be free bar (not like I'll be drinking), great food, and the entertainment is still a secret. Those of my colleagues who were there 15 years ago for the 25Th anniversary said back then a really big Danish band were playing and one of the most popular TV host at the time were their host. So I'm really excited, when they throw a big party the usually go all out, so I'm ready to party!
At first I hadn't signed up for the party, due to my brother getting married today, but after they cancelled their wedding I tried to get a ticket for the party, and lucky me, I ended up getting one. And the dress... well I had bought one in Kuala Lumpur I thought I might wear for the wedding, so now I get to use it anyways. It's not a dress I would usually wear at a wedding, but I didn't want to spent a whole lot of money on a dress that I would be able to wear this once, and then hopefully I will be to thin to wear again:)
Have a nice weekend, and a happy wedding day to Kimbirdy over at Fill Your Well, she is getting married today, I'm so excited for her, and are hoping she is having a fab day with lots of love!

A few lazy days...

It started Sunday night... I was getting a headache and coughing a little! I went to work Monday, which was my long day (from 8 am till 9 pm) and I was in charge of our department till closing! I don't usually mind being in charge, hey that's my job if I didn't like it I should probably find something else! But as Monday went on I did mind! Luckily one of the guys called in sick (he is never sick) and he was closing with me (this wasn't the lucky part), the lucky part was one of our employees said she would go home and come in later in the afternoon instead! Well she is able to close the department, but doesn't like to. But when she got back to work to find out I had been running to the bathroom throwing up most of the day she felt sorry for me. She said I should go home, but knowing how she feels about closing the department I said no! Though at 8 pm I was exhausted, and had to go home... but just getting home an hour earlier was really a delight!
After having been to the bathroom a few times I said to my boss (you remember I have the best boss ever!) "I really hope that this throwing up has something to do with my pregnancy" to which he replied "Of course it is". I couldn't get myself to explain to him that I haven't had any morning sickness yet, and I felt a fever coming on, not something that should come with morning sickness. But honestly the last few weeks everyone has just been sick! I guess now it was my turn!
On Tuesday I had to go to work... well had to and had to is maybe too much said. But I had a meeting a 11 am which I really wanted to attend and I had a few other things to do as well. Well after the meeting, which ended at noon, I headed home, and into bed! So I slept all day! I got up when my husband came home, but that was just to move from the bed to the sofa. I didn't move from the sofa except to eat dinner!
Sleeping all day... well that in resulted in a really lousy sleep last night, and now I'm exhausted! I have been to work, and I'm feeling better, except for a sore throat. But I'm tired... and I refuse to take a nap, because I can't bear another sleepless night! So I'm trying to keep awake another few hours, so I can watch Desperate Housewives and then I will go to bed.
Now I will go make another cup of tea... I'm not much of a tea drinker, I'm a coffee girl, but whenever I'm feeling a bit under the weather I drink tea and feel even more sorry for myself:)
Hope you're all doing fine! And sorry about the whining!

I'm enjoying the silence...

Do any of you have an idea of how much a 7-year old boy talks?
Ohh my God... we have been babysitting my husbands Godson since 1.00 pm, and I don't think he has been silent for 5 minutes at a time. He is so sweet, but boy does he talk a lot:o) And he asks many questions. I have just tugged him in (with his gameboy, I know not the real parenty thing to do, but I'm not a parent until February). So now I'm enjoying a few hours of silence before heading to bed myself. We have spent the day playing Dragon Balls and what else on the PlayStation, he has been playing on the computer (not even that is done in silence) and he has played with his Star wars Lego, and though I never seen a Star wars movie I think I now knows who is bad and who is good (the guy with the green head and big ears are good).
But having him over also mean we have to monitor whats on TV, so we have more or less only been reading the news online, because yesterday there was a bombing in Copenhagen. Well the bombing supposedly didn't go as expected because only the bomber was hurt. He tried to bomb a hotel in the center of the city, but he failed. He tried to run, but later got caught. He had lost one leg, so it kind of impressive how far he had got before getting caught.
The man denies to cooperate with the police, but he speak French, and they expect him to be from the Northern part of Africa. He don't know what his name is or where he is from... or well he isn't telling. The police does not yet know if it was a act of terrorism, but the fear it might be, with today being September 11Th. So until further notice they are on highest alert at airports etc.
It's a bit scary, so far most terrorist attacks have been in other countries and so far away that we haven't really been exposed, but now it's getting close... too close. Luckily this guy failed, but who knows what will happen next time?
I hope everybody is all right, and I will continue to enjoy a bit of silence.

Fridays Fives

Beth over at Just Me and My Life... has a post called Friday Fives every Friday, and this is my first time playing along, for some reason the theme this week was something I couldn't miss.

5 things I remember about September 11Th... can you believe it's been nine years all ready?

1. I remember driving to the post office and they said on the radio that a plane had crashed into the Twin Towers. Since it wasn't at the regular time for the news I thought it was a joke, and didn't think more about it.

2. I remember getting home turning on the TV to watch another re-run of 90210, but the news was still on. I was annoyed, checked the time and then I realised that what I earlier had heard on the Radio wasn't a joke.

3. I remember calling my boyfriend who hadn't heard anything about it yet. One of his friends was in New York on vacation at the time. He is a person that would get up early to go see places, and we worried he was in the Twin Towers... later we found out he was safe, but had been in the Twin Towers just the morning before.

4. I remember nothing else was on the news. No one talked about anything else. I wasn't in my country, not even my continent, but I remember everyone talking about wanting Bin Laden being caught.

5. I remember my parents being on vacation in Turkey, and having to pick them up in the airport a few days later. All ready by then the security in the airports had been increased. I remember being worried for my parents, though they were no where near New York.

I hope some of you will take the time to remember, this did not only change New York, or the USA it changed the world... So take the time to remember either online, or just in your mind. If you choose to remember online link up to Beth's blog!
