Election Day

On Sunday the 25th of May we have an election for the Europe Parliament in Denmark, and for the first time in the nearly 17 years that I have been allowed to vote I'm going to miss an election.

We will be in Turkey, but if I wanted I could have requested to vote ahead of time. Well I haven't, and I honestly don't care. I haven't looked into what we are voting about, and I don't care to look up information. That's a first for me, because I have always felt that you are not allowed to complain about any politics if you didn't do your duty and vote.

I'm not political active, and I doubt I ever will be, but I feel it's my right to vote. But I guess this time around I won't be voting, so hopefully you won't hear me complaining about it down the road.

Well enough politics, I should be packing.

Selfie

The word "selfie" has entered the Danish language during 2013, every now and again American words are taken into our everyday language. I guess the word selfie has been around probably longer, especially in the younger generation who uses the social medias a lot, like instagram, facebook etc. But the word became really common thanks to our prime minister....

She participated in Nelson Mandela's memorial service, she got seated next to US  President Obama and UK prime minister David Cameron, well I guess she thought that need to be perpetuated. Well can you blame her, wouldn't you take a selfie if you sat next to Obama and Cameron? But that just wasn't the place to do it, come on Helle, what were you thinking? I'm just glad I didn't vote for her, not that I think the guy I voted for would do much better, though I doubt he would take a selfie.
Michelle doesn't seem to approve the of their behavior, and can you blame her? The Washington Post doesn't seem to think it's all that bad, since the picture is number 6 on the list of the 18 best political pictures on 2013. Well enough about David, Barack and Helle, onto my selfies:)

I have today of, and started my day with a trip to the hairdressers, so here is a selfie of my hair before going, I need a haircut really bad. Sorry for the poor quality picture, there is no flash on my phone, and it was dark this morning, and my phone doesn't take the best pictures to begin with!
And here is an after selfie, I cut my hair short, I had been thinking of this for  while, and now I finally did it, maybe not the right season to do it, but then again the winter hasn't been too bad so far, so hopefully spring will be here soon.
So there you have it, 3 selfies. Have a great day:)

Election Day!

3 weeks ago they set the date of today for the Danish population to go voting! Ever since they have all been campaigning, and I must admit it feels more like 3 months than 3 weeks.

So today I went to vote, and are really glad it's almost over. Though our prime minister might not be the same after today... which I'm not super happy about. Our parliament consists of 179 members, and the one who in the end will have 90 members or more pointing to them for prime minister will get "the job". Which is fair and very democratic, but the polls are right now pointing to the "wrong" side if you ask me, but it's so close that they are talking about it might come down to the 4 members from Greenland and Faeroe Islands (2 from each).

Election 2011 via

Right now there are 9 parties in the parliament, and just a little more than 50% point to the blue block (we got block policy in Denmark) which is the liberals, but after today the majority might be in the red block (the democrats)...

The thing is the woman the red block is pointing to be the prime minister (which means the first female prime minister in Denmark) well she doesn't exactly act like a democrat. She says people have to support the public school system and put their kids in public school, all while her kids are in private schools. And there has been several stories about her not paying her tax, because her husband is British and is not the Denmark most of the time, well a bit complicated to explain. So as cool as I think it would be with a female prime minister, well I just hope it's not going to be her and not now... and I know there is stories about the liberal leader as well, that's another reason I'm happy election day is here, because the dirt tossing will be over for a while then:)
