What a great weekend!

This weekend was a great one, but also a long one!

On Friday afternoon we drove down to my parents, and boy is there a lot to pack when you are very much pregnant. What if I was to give birth this weekend? Well the car was packed with our overnight bag, a bag for the hospital, a car seat etc. I guess we just have to get used to it. So we had a great dinner at my parents place, and then watched the semi finals of the mens world cup in handball. Denmark was playing Spain, and we won... YEAH!

On Saturday I was going to meet up with our old Brass Band which I used to play in, we meet up at a cabin in the woods once a year, and play all day Saturday, and to my suprise I could hang on, because when practising last week I was out of breath within minutes! On Saturday night we had a party where spouses, parents, kids etc. are invited. I had decided not to spent the night in the cabin but at my parents place instead, and we were back around midnight.

Sunday I had to be back at the cabin at 9.00 am, and we play for a few hours again. Afterwards they were getting lunch ready, but I was exhausted so I headed back to my parents instead. After lunch with my parents we packed the car again and left for home. I slept in the car, and was still tired when we got home. When I was resting on the couch I realised what I was feeling... I hadn't felt like that in ages, and honestly I don't miss the feeling! I felt like I was hungover from partying all night!
I don't think I'm able to get any bigger by now! The picture is taken last week, so I'm probably all ready bigger:)

After a nap we went to watch the final in the world cup at some friends, they had invited us for dinner and the game. Denmark were playing France, and within ordinary time the game tied, so they prolonged the game and Denmark lost, but they played well, and considering that it is a fairly new team I'm super happy with 2nd place. Besides before the world cup their goal was to be in top 7, so I guess they were happy too. Well probably not right after loosing the game, but after a good nights sleep I'm sure the boys will realise what an amazing job they have done.

When we got home around 9.00 pm last night I headed straight to bed, and slept till 10.00 am this morning... well I didn't sleep all that well, I was awake several times, I can't wait for this pregnancy to be over... or at least just the heart burn, it always comes at bedtime no matter what I do!

Shoes...

Do I have too many shoes if I can throw out 28 pairs without missing any of them? And I still have a pretty full shoe closet!

Yep, I have been cleaning out my shoe closet, and how come I haven't been throwing out shoes that were ruined? Well not all were totally ruined, so my theory is that if I have a pair of shoes that I love wearing at work, but they start to look a bit shattered... well I buy a new pair, but save the old ones until the new ones are broken in... but after the new ones have been broken in and are now my favourite I tend to forget to throw out the shattered ones! And so it goes on with the new pair getting old.

There are also 2 other categories of shoes in my closet, the ones I buy because they will go well with a dress or some other item of clothes, but I hardly ever wear. Some of them I might have worn once or twice because they don't really look that good.

Then there is the shoes that a just fab, but in reality it's not really my size, so they are not comfortable or the heels are too high for me to walk in (okay I saved those, because one day I will learn!).

A few years ago my husband made a rule that every time I brought home a new pair of shoes I should throw out an old pair... does that mean I can now go buy 28 pairs of shoes? Uhh that's exciting, though I doubt the bank feels the same way.

I would love these, but they are a bit expensive via

10 of the 28 pairs will be donated to Red Cross, so I guess I'm also doing a good deed. My mum works in a Red Cross second hand shop one day a week, so this weekend I'm dropping them off at my mums, but the rest of them, well they are not worth saving, so they will go in the garbage.

Well that is enough of my ramblings, I will now surf the net to look at shoes... a girl can dream can't she?

I'm bored!

Okay I'm stuck here without a car, not that I have anywhere to be, but after 2 weeks off I'm bored.
I still have lots of pictures to get organised, I should clean out our shoe closet one of the days, I'm sure there is a lot of shoes I don't wear any longer, and probably a pair or two I wouldn't be caught dead in! Our windows need to be washed, dishes need to be done, I have recorded a movie I need to watch... well there is a lot of things that need to be done, but honestly I don't really have the energy.
But I'm getting sick of sitting around on the couch all day, I wish I would have a bit more energy so I could go to the gym or at least go for a walk.
I'm so ready for this pregnancy to be over, and for me to be a mum. So I'm hoping he comes a bit early... preferably 4 days early, which will be my husbands birthday, who could ask for a better birthday gift?
I'll try and pull myself together and go wash the windows, that way I will get something done, and get fresh air all in one.
Sorry for the boring post! As you can see I'm so bored I don't even have anything to blog about!
Have a great week everyone!

Waiting and reliving memories...

4 weeks to the due date... I must admit by now he can just pop out, I'm ready for it:) At least I'm ready for the heart burn to be over and being able to drink coffee again. A friend told me it was good thing that the pregnancy would be lousy in the end, because then you will be so more ready for giving birth, and somehow the whole giving birth thing, it doesn't scare me... at least not as much as I thought it would! Well let's see about it tomorrow, because we will be visiting the hospital and watching a movie about giving birth... at that point I might change my mind!

I'm using my time off getting my pictures organised. Last week I found a place where I could get them developed really cheap. And since I'm usually making scrapbooks out of my pictures from our vacations, but last year I never got my pictures developed. So with the vacation from the summer 2009 and summer 2010 and the trip to the Dominica Republic in November I picked up 1000 pictures. So I have quite the job ahead of me, and I will probably not finish before giving birth, but at least I have started!

It's fun reliving the old memories. Here my husband and I are having a Singapore Sling at Raffles Hotel in Singapore.

Me in the streets on Hanoi, Vietnam. We were allowed to borrow a lady's hat and banana thing... well after she had put it on us, and we had taken the pictures she told us we owed her a dollar per picture:)

There are some great memories in all those pictures, and over the next years will probably be added a lot more pictures and memories, and I can't wait for them to come!

Is that mean?

I'm I mean when I answer my mother in laws text, all while knowing that they are in Thailand on vacation and it's 3.00 in the morning?
I just figured she must sooner or later realise that when she is texting us all odd hours of the day when they are travelling I will do the same! I got a text from her at 5.30 this morning.... on a freaking Saturday! Well I can't be all to mad, because my cell phone was in the my bag and I didn't see it until this afternoon. But honestly, couldn't she think about the time difference before texting?
So I asked my husband what time it was in Thailand, and we figured it would be around 3.00 am, and I said I would text her. Knowing they are probably asleep in their hotel room and will hear it. But hopefully she will learn by this!
But am I too much? Should I just let it go? but let's face it, it's not the first time it happens!

What's in a name?

Deciding on a name for our baby has been a bit harder than I expected. Sorry to say I'm not one of those girls who knows by age 10 that if I get a girl she will be named *** or if I get a boy he will be named ***.

I had a few demands for the name, I wanted the name to be able to be pronounced in English as well as in Danish. I must say I have been lucky that my name is easily pronounced pretty much all over the world. But while being in the USA as an Au Pair I met a lot of girls from different countries, and many of them had to spell their name over and over before people just got a slight idea of what they were named! Besides from the name being easily pronounced I would like my baby to have a special name, which wasn't too special... do get what I mean? I want a name that isn't super spacey, but I also don't want the boy to be one of 8 in his class named his name (but there is always a risk that with a fairly common name he will be one out of several).

When we first found out I was pregnant neither of us could come up with any suggestions for names... so we decided to put that on hold until we had had the second ultrasound, and knew if it was a boy or a girl. It seemed a bit surreal to both of us coming up with boys names if we were having a girl and vice versa.

So after finding out we were expecting a boy, well it didn't get much easier, but we started coming with suggestions. And every time I suggested something my husband didn't like, he would say "we should name him Frank Jr." All because he knew I would hate it. At one point I thought we would never agree... so I started to abandon my demands. I figured what the f*** who cares if it's easily pronounced in English, my brother lived 5 years in the UK and managed pretty well, even if he's named Torben!

But after a while we had it down to 3 names: Jonathan, Mathias, and Benjamin. After going with these 3 names for a while we decided on Jonathan. Which we told a few people when they asked... and then the day before going on vacation we received an e-mail from my cousin, thanking us for the gift we sent them when they had their son. And he was going to be named... surprise... Jonathan! To say the least I was pretty upset... they stole my name! Okay we could name our boy Jonathan as well, as we don't see them all that often, usually just at Christmas time, but no, Jonathan is now out of the picture. So you would say hey you still have 2 other names left... but no, after deciding on Jonathan, the others just didn't seem right.

But a 9 hour flight to The Dominican Republic will give you time to think of new names:) So when we arrived in Punta Cana we had narrowed it down to 2 names, Jonas and Johan! Leaning towards Jonas, but we weren't completely sure. At the end of our trip though, we were sure he is a Jonas. So until further notice that is what our baby boy will be named. But who knows, someone might pop out another boy and name him that as well... but I hope not, I don't want another 9 hours flight to come up with a new name!

Honestly I thought coming up with a name would be the easy part, I guess I was wrong. But now we are ready for Jonas to arrive. Just 5 short weeks from now:) I must say I really enjoy my maternity leave, I get so much done, the whole house have been cleaned, most laundry been done, I have even been creative... I can't remember when I last painted something that I dare show someone, probably back in pre-school!
A few paintings for Jonas' nursery

I have even started making meal plans... so on Monday night I went shopping, and now I don't have to go grocery shopping for the rest of the week. Which is really nice, I'm used to picking up things for dinner on my way home from work... this way I bet I will save both time and money:) Speaking on saving money... not having a car and being stuck at home during the day will help you save money as well. Today we will know if they are able to fix the car or not. If they are able to fix it we will probably get it today as well. But if there is too much damage we aren't going to get it fixed. It's an old car, and you can get one similar fairly cheap, so if it's too expensive to fix we are going to look for a new one!

Sorry for the long post, hope you all have a great day!

My first award!

I got my first blogging award, and I'm super excited about it:) It was passed on to me by the sweet Alicia over at The Red Deer. Alicia has to my pleasure recently returned to the blogging world after taking a little break. I love reading her blog, though I usually get hungry reading her great recipes. Some of you might remember that I last year tried baking lemon cupcakes, and to say the least she is a lot better at baking than I am:)

Well onto the award, which means I have to answer a few questions.

1.Why did you create the blog?Well I started blogging because I had started reading Wendy's blog. Back in 2002 I lived in Slovenia for 4 months during my studies, which is where I met Wendy. So when she started blogging I loved reading what was going on in her life. So after a while I figured I would start a blog on my own, and that is how it all started!

2. What kind of blogs do you follow? I love reading blogs that is a bit more personal, where I get the feeling that I get to know the person behind the blog.

3. Favourite make up brand? Well I not a person who spends a lot of money on make up, but I still have a whole lot of it. I used to work in the perfume department, and every now and then we got free stuff. So my favourite make up brand would probably be L'oreal or Maybelline. Partly because I like their products, and partly because the sales person who came to our store was the nicest girl. She was always happy to help out and always brought great stuff for us. Yeah I can be bought:)

4. Favourite clothing brand? I don't really have a specific brand that I go for, but I love a good bargain. I guess I would rather have 4 pairs of cheaper shoes, than 1 really expensive pair:)

5. Your indispensable make up product? I guess beside a mascara my favourite product is Max Factors Masterpiece Colour Precision Eyeshadow. After discovering that product I pretty much wear eyeshadow everyday, because it's just so easy and fast putting on:)
via

6. Your favourite colour? Well it depends on what the colour should be used for, but I like earthy colours, but it also depends on my mood, so one day I can't stand pink, but on another day it just has to be pink:)

7. Your Perfume? My favourite right now is "Daisy" from Marc Jacobs, but it usually changes over time, so the next time I'm shopping for a new perfume it might be something different.

8. Your favourite film? One movie I always seems to come to mind is "A long kiss goodnight", if it's on TV I will be watching it. I don't know if I will call my favourite movie, I don't think I have a real favourite.

9. What country would you like to visit and why? Can I pick more than one? Well I would love to visit Australia and New Zealand, but the plane tickets there are just so expensive! Besides it will probably be a few years before we dare taking such a long plane ride with the baby. I don't have one specific reason to why I want to visit Australia and New Zealand, it has just always been a wish of mine, even before our Prince married an Australian girl. By the way they just had twins yesterday, congrats to them:)

10. Make the last question, and answer to yourself. Hmm that's hard.... what do you look most forward to in 2011? Well that's an easy question to answer:) I'm super excited about becoming a mum in 5-6 weeks. Just getting to enjoy the whole motherhood, staying home for a year, what could be better?

Now pass the award on to 10 lovely bloggers, and here is who I'm passing it onto: Wendy, Erin, Kimbirdy, Meghan, Kattrina, Krysten, Salt, JMay, Agirl, and Karen. Looking forward to seeing your answers:)

Maternity Leave!

So yesterday my maternity leave started, it was a bit weird leaving work and not having to go back for a year or so... well I will go back to visit but not to work over the next year! I left work around noon because I had an appointment at the midwife, afterwards I did a little grocery shopping and then headed home to relax on the couch.

We finally got a new scanner so I can show you the picture of our baby boy from my last ultrasound in the end of September, so I guess he is a bit bigger now:)

Best as I was settling on the couch, and an old episode of 90210 was about to start the phone rang! It was my husband, his car had broken down on his was home, and I had to come pick him up and we had to tow his car to the mechanics. So today he has my car, and I guess all in all that's fair since he has a lot longer to work, and I'm on leave. Though today I have a doctors appointment, so I have to take the bus (which I hate) it will take me 30 minutes to get into town, which is about 15 minutes longer than by car, that I could manage, but since the bus only drives one time each hour, I will be at the doctor 40 minutes before my appointment... or I will be 20 minutes late. Luckily my husband is of work early on Fridays, so if I go shopping a bit and exchange a few Christmas gifts afterwards, I will be able to spent the time long enough to get him to pick me up on his way home, so I don't have to take the bus back.

I know I shouldn't be complaining, but I just thought I would get so much more done on my first day off, but I guess I have to wait till the weekend or next week. Have a nice weekend everyone!

2 days to go!

I have 2 days left of work before getting stay home for almost a year! Can you believe how lucky I am? Well technically my maternity leave doesn't start till the 20th, but I have just a little vacation left, which I will use over the next 2 weeks. I know a lot of people complain about the government etc. here in Denmark, but honestly right now I really appreciate how lucky you can be as a pregnant woman. You have the rigth to stop working 4 weeks before you due date in you are in the private sector, are you working in the public sector you get 8 weeks (okay that's a bit unfair, since I'm in the private sector).

After giving birth you get 20 weeks fully paid maternity leave, and after that I can't remember how many weeks paid by the "government", I guess there is a reason for the high taxes we pay:) So all in all I get to stay home for almost a year, depending on how much vacation I will be using in the end of my maternity leave!

So 2 days of work left... well mentally I have all ready left. Especially because I have handed over everything, so I no longer have any specific responsibility. Today was a really slow day, hardly any customers or anything to do! So just about an hour after arriving I told my boss he could just send me home... though that didn't completely work, so I started another tactic which was "Keep annoying him till he will send you home", I guess I could have done a better job, but nonetheless at 1.30 pm he said "Okay just leave then!". So I got off early:)

Otherwise my pregnancy is going just great... well besides from heartburn I feel great. Though I do believe the heartburn is more than enough, over the last week it has got worse, some evenings I even had to get up and puke! Though I went to the pharmacy yesterday, and I do believe the new pills I got really are working, but they taste disgusting! I get a bit nauseas just eating them, but shortly after I have no heartburn and are able to sleep. So I'm trying no to complain, and hopefully in a few months the heartburn will be gone:)
