Another day off...

Again I have a day off... well more of less, I was at work this morning for a few hours to open the store. Today is a holiday so I just had to help the employees getting started and order some more plants. So I have the rest of the day off, and I don't even have to cook dinner, because we have been invited to my in laws for dinner.

The down side is the weather, it's cloudy and have been raining, which it probably will do again. Another down side my husband is off work tomorrow as well, and I will be working 15 hours and then working 10 hours on Saturday, and a few hours Sunday... So today will be relaxing with coffee, a great book and maybe a movie.

Enjoy your weekend when you get there, I will be working:)

A day off...

I have had today off, and still have plenty of it left.
I went out to brunch at this great café with a friend from work, we were lucky to finally have a day off together, well a day during the week. I had the best brunch with bagels, fresh cranberry juice, eggs, sausages and best of all hash browns, I love them and I hardly ever have them. Dronning Louise (meaning Queen Louise) where we had brunch via

After brunch we went shopping, or at least looking. I needed a new pair of jeans, I have just discovered a hole in one of my favourite pairs, so I guess it wasn't a luxury, but I found a really nice shirt as well. But how come every time I don't really need anything and don't really have the money for it I can find loads of really cool clothes? And then I go for something specific I can't find anything?

Well just got home, and I might go enjoy a cup of coffee outside with a great book, before cooking an early dinner since I'm going the cinema tonight... we ended up choosing "The Joneses" since "Date Night" were playing for the last time this weekend.
Thursday is a national holiday in Denmark, but since I'm now working in a garden center we will be open on Thursday, but I just have to go in to work in the morning and help them get started. So after a few hours I will be off work again for almost a whole day, but I will then be working all day Friday and Saturday. Friday especially annoys me because my husband have got Friday off as well as Thursday.

I'm going to enjoy my afternoon coffee, and enjoy the rest of my day off.

Happy Mothers Day

Happy Mothers Day to all the wonderful mothers out there.
And a big thank you to my mum for bringing me up and being who you are!
She will probably hate me for posting her picture (she hates being photographed), but she will forgive eventually, because that is what mothers do:)

Happy Mothers Day

Fill In The Blank Friday

It's Friday, which means it's time for Fill In The Blank Friday. Lauren over at The Little Things We Do have chosen the theme for this week should be books, so here are my blanks.

1. My favorite book growing up was called "Troldepus" it was about this little sweet troll and his everyday adventures.

2. The funniest book I've ever read was it's hard to think of a book that really made me laugh, but I do find the shopaholic books a bit funny, you laugh at her, but at the same time you think "yeah that could be me".

3. The one book that has truly changed my life is hmm... I wish I had a book that really changed my life, but I really can't come to think of one. I read a lot of biographies and some of the people have made an impact on me, but I wouldn't say they have changed my life.

4. If you're looking for a real "tear jerker" you should probably read "chicken soup for a woman's soul", I discovered these books while I was an Au Pair in the states, it all these short stories that are true, and some of them are so heartbreaking others just so sweet. Every time I read them I'm sure to tear up, so there is one rule to them, "Don't read them in public".

5. If I could meet any author living or dead I would want to meet I was sure this was an easy question, but I have one dead and one alive, the dead one should be Hans Christian Andersen, he is a Danish author of a lot of fairy tales, and every kid in Denmark knows at least a few of his stories, though I'm not sure he would meet me, they say he was a bit of a loner, so maybe I would have better luck with my alive author which is John Grisham. What can I say, every time I get one of his books, everything else is put aside.

6. The next book on my "to read" list is "Ford County" by John Grisham, it's the only one of his books I haven't read, and it's his first collection of short stories. Uhh I might need to stop by the bookstore tomorrow.

7. If I was snowed into remote cabin in the woods and could only choose three books to bring with me I'd bring well I would probably bring one of the "Chicken soup for a woman's soul" books, a John Grisham book, I can't decide on my favourite one and last I would bring a biography of some kind.

Well that is all for me, enjoy your weekend.

Oh and thanks for all you comments on which movie I should choose, though had I paid enough attention I would have seen that "Date Night" wasn't playing on Tuesday, so "The Joneses" it is...

The BBQ season has started...

I had a really good laugh yesterday when reading Linny's vault her post Actions Not Words... Ok Sometimes Words Too was hilarious, and in so many ways true. Then today I receive an e-mail that made me think about her post again, so inspired be her, here we go.

BBQ Rules:

As we are entering the BBQ season its time to refresh the rules and etiquette of the great outdoor cooking activity. When a man volunteers to BBQ the following events starts happening.

1. The woman goes grocery shopping... as usual.

2. The woman prepares a salad and makes dessert.

3. The woman prepares and marinates the meat, places it on a tray with the necessary kitchen utensils, and carry them to the man, who is standing next to the BBQ with a beer in the hand.

4. The woman stays the mandatory 10 feet away from the BBQ, where there is an abundance of testosterone and male activity happening without any interfering of women.

And here comes the important part...

5. The man places the meat on the BBQ

6. The woman goes inside to organise plates and utensils.

7. The woman comes out to tell the man the meat looks delicious. He thanks her and asks her to grab him another beer, while he flips the meat.

Yet another important part...

8. The man takes the meat of the BBQ and gives it to the woman.

9. The woman makes sure everything from napkins, salad and plates are on the table.

10. After dinner the woman clears the table and does the dishes.

And most importantly...

11. Everyone gives the man a lot of credit for his great cooking effort.

12. The man asks the woman if she enjoyed "her night off", and when he sees her irritated reaction he comes to the conclusion that it is impossible to make a woman happy!

That story, I bet, is true in so many households... well maybe not, but sometimes it's true here, with just a small change... my husband usually clears the table and does the dishes...

I hope to have put a smile on your faces on just another Thursday.

What to choose?

I have a little problem, well you probably can't called it a problem, but I have 2 free tickets to the cinema, and they have to be used by Wednesday next week. I have invited a friend to come along next Tuesday, but there are no movies that we have been dying to see lately. So we have now narrowed it down to 2 choices, and let me tell there aren't many movies to choose from right now. If you take away the kids movies and the action movies, not much is left, so this is what we have to choose between.
1. The Joneses

2. Date Nightvia

I know some of you readers probably seen these movies ages ago, but living in Denmark you just have to wait a bit longer than everyone else to watch them. We might be leaning towards "The Joneses", I just can't help thinking David Duchovny is a little cute, he might have grown on me way back when the X-files were popular...

Have you seen any of these movies? Please let me know which one you would recommend.

Fill In The Blank Friday

What a week, I've been so busy with work, but luckily today is a holiday in Denmark so I'm having a long weekend! So I will have time to catch up on everyones blogs.

Anyways, it's Friday, which means it's time for Fill In The Blank Friday. Lauren over at The Little Things We Do have chosen the theme for this week should be movies, so here are my blanks.

1. My absolute favorite movie of all time is "The Long Kiss Goodnight" I saw the first time while I was in high school, and I just loved Samuel L. Jackson.

2. My favorite movie as a child was a Danish movie called something like "The Baroness at the gas station", it was about a girl who lived with her uncles at a gas station because her mother had died, and no one knew who her father was. It turns out her father was a Baron who also had passed away, but his mother wants her to take over after her. The girl is a real tomboy and the old baroness tries to turn her into a lady.

3. The best movie quote ever is from "Forrest Gump" said by Forrest "Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're gonna get".

4. My favorite actress is Meg Ryan, she just mad a lot of great movies, I loved her in everything from "Sleepless in Seattle" to "You've got mail" and another plus is her always good looking hair Also My favorite actor is a tie between Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Hanks, both great actors, I mainly like Samuel for "The Long Kiss Goodnight" but let's face it Tom Hanks did a lot of great movies, and lot of them with Meg Ryan, so whats not to love?

5. The movie I could watch over and over is "Grease" I just love the songs, I pretty much knows the movies by heart.

6. My favorite movie genre is depending on my mood, but I'm love a romantic comedy.

7. A movie I'd like to watch this weekend is I don't really have plans to watch movies this weekend, but they are having a "Romantic Comedy " theme on one of the Danish stations this weekend, which means they are showing "50 first dates", "There is something about Mary", "Keeping the Faith" and a lot more , so I might end up watching a movie or two.

Hope you all will have a great weekend!
