Happy Birthday Jonas

On Sunday it was Jonas's second birthday, and we had been looking forward to it, since last year he was sick on his birthday... well why should that change? Thursday night he ran a fever and started vomiting. I thought Jonas and I had made a deal for him not to get sick the 2 weeks my parents in law was in Mexico, but as with lots of other things, he didn't listen to me.

A friend of ours are not working at the moment due to back problems, so he was babysitting Jonas on Friday, Frank went to work earlier than usual so that he could leave earlier and get home before Jonas' nap time. Saturday he seemed a bit better, though he didn't eat much, but we figured that this year he would be healthy on his birthday.

Well Sunday came and he was coughing a bit more, and a little after noon he was running a fever again, and he started crying when coughing, so we went to the doctor, and my parents would greet our guests. Well it turned out he had otitis and a sore throat so the doctor prescribed him some penicillin.

My parents stayed till Monday so they could babysit while we were at work, but Jonas was suppose to celebrate his birthday at daycare, and since the fever was gone, but he was lacking a lot of sleep, we had decided for him to stay at home. I dropped the cake of at the daycare and my mum took Jonas there for an hour or so when the guests were there so he could be celebrated with gifts and cake. Afterwards he was so tired, and fell asleep after a few minutes in the stroller on the way home.

a picture of him unwrapping his present at daycare, I bet everyone was following intensely. I haven't got around to moving the pictures from his birthday from our camera to the computer, so you will have to wait for those.

My mum left last night, since she had volunteer work today, but my dad stayed to babysit Jonas, though I doubt it was necessary, he seemed perfectly fine when I left for work, and he had been fine all day, but it was nice to have him home an extra day so he can be sure he isn't sick anymore. So after dinner we dropped my dad off at the bus station, while keeping our fingers crossed that this will be all the sickness we will have in a long time... though Frank seems to be coming down with something, but that at least doesn't interfere with my work schedule.

A little update...

Seems like life been way too busy lately. Or well we haven't done much, but with Jonas' broken collarbone it just seems like we have been even more busy.

We have been to the hospital today for a check up, and it was healing very well. So the doctor recommended him to keep the wrap on for another week, though we could take it of for him to get a bath and when he was sleeping. And even better... we don't have to go back for another check.

Frank has the rest of the week off, so Jonas isn't going back to daycare until Monday, and by then it should have healed a lot more. Though we are really lucky to have grandparents that are able and willing to babysit Jonas while we are at work. Last week my mother in law watched him for 2 days, and Friday I was off work. Sunday afternoon my mum arrived with bus, and my dad picked her up today. I could get used to having her live here... getting home to a clean house, no laundry, and a nice home cooked meal... all that she has done while entertaining Jonas for a whole day.

Well that will be the little update for now. Don't know when I will be back since I will be working all day both Friday and Saturday. So until then have a great weekend!

Attached...

For almost 5 months Jonas and I have pretty much been attached to each other, everywhere I go he goes, and if he is not with me he is with his daddy. But not today... this morning we dropped him of at my husbands sister so she could babysit for a few hours while we went to Germany to do a little shopping (beer and sodas are a lot cheaper there, and our Survivor party is coming up). Since Jonas don't have a passport yet, he couldn't go, so he stayed with Auntie Tina and her boyfriend.

We tried to take a passport photo of Jonas so we can get his passport, which for sure aren't easy, but we have few funny pictures, I think he was about to sneeze in this one:)

We hadn't been driving for more than 15-20 minutes, before both of us had turned our head to check the car seat... but there was no baby, that was a bit weird. We have gotten so used to having him with us, that it felt so strange to be alone!

He had behaved nice most of the time, except when he pulled the hair of her guinea pig, Elvis:) He had become a bit tired, but with a little help from the stroller he is easy to get to sleep, so they had enjoyed babysitting him, and offered to do it again, so I guess they weren't too scared. Though Jonas was happy to see us again, I was getting big hugs and he cuddled in my arms when I picked him up, so I guess he miss us as much as we missed him:)

It 's funny how your life can change so much in a few short months, but I love my "new" life!

I'm enjoying the silence...

Do any of you have an idea of how much a 7-year old boy talks?
Ohh my God... we have been babysitting my husbands Godson since 1.00 pm, and I don't think he has been silent for 5 minutes at a time. He is so sweet, but boy does he talk a lot:o) And he asks many questions. I have just tugged him in (with his gameboy, I know not the real parenty thing to do, but I'm not a parent until February). So now I'm enjoying a few hours of silence before heading to bed myself. We have spent the day playing Dragon Balls and what else on the PlayStation, he has been playing on the computer (not even that is done in silence) and he has played with his Star wars Lego, and though I never seen a Star wars movie I think I now knows who is bad and who is good (the guy with the green head and big ears are good).
But having him over also mean we have to monitor whats on TV, so we have more or less only been reading the news online, because yesterday there was a bombing in Copenhagen. Well the bombing supposedly didn't go as expected because only the bomber was hurt. He tried to bomb a hotel in the center of the city, but he failed. He tried to run, but later got caught. He had lost one leg, so it kind of impressive how far he had got before getting caught.
The man denies to cooperate with the police, but he speak French, and they expect him to be from the Northern part of Africa. He don't know what his name is or where he is from... or well he isn't telling. The police does not yet know if it was a act of terrorism, but the fear it might be, with today being September 11Th. So until further notice they are on highest alert at airports etc.
It's a bit scary, so far most terrorist attacks have been in other countries and so far away that we haven't really been exposed, but now it's getting close... too close. Luckily this guy failed, but who knows what will happen next time?
I hope everybody is all right, and I will continue to enjoy a bit of silence.
