I should be packing!

I got home about an hour ago, I right now I should be packing for Berlin, but it seems that the couch won't let go of me! That must be the only down side to travelling... I hate to pack, but I love to travel. But I should be finding my suitcase and at least get started, if I want to get everything with me.

I won't have time to do so before leaving on Thursday morning if I don't get started now! Tonight we are going to the movies to see"The Ghost Writer" of Roman Polanski, I don't know if its any good, but we have some free tickets which should be used before the end of April, and this seems to be the only movie we can agree on... I can't get my husband to watch a chick flick.

I won't have time to pack tomorrow either, well I would if I got up early, but with a late night tonight I don't see that happening. I will be working from 10 a.m. tomorrow until midnight, tell me how many people goes shopping at 11 p.m. on a Wednesday before Easter? We are usually open till 9 p.m. and sometimes 10 p.m. before the holidays, but midnight! Come on, that is just plain stupid! We don't count on have a lot to do in our department, which is why from 10 p.m. there will only be me. But I guess I will be able to get a lot done at that point! But since I'm working till midnight I won't be packing tomorrow either, and we are leaving on Thursday at 8 a.m. so if I don't get started now, I have to get up really early on Thursday...

I better get started!

Happy Easter everyone, I'll be in Berlin enjoying myself!

Spring seems to have arrived

The spring is here to stay, the sun has been shining, the flowers starts to bloom and we have been riding the motorcycle. All things are true signs that spring is here.

On Thursday the sun was shining and it was 17 degrees Celsius, though the high degrees didn't stay, the spring is still here. On Thursday night I has my first ride this year on our motorcycle... well on my husbands motorcycle to be correct. We went for a drive and that is for sure a sign that the spring is here, and summer is only a few months away:)

I love sitting on the back of the motorcycle, feeling the wind and the fresh air, but I will never get a drivers licence for it myself. I'm perfectly fine sitting in the back, I'm hate to admit it, but I don't dare to drive it myself... I don't trust myself enough to have control over the bike, so I leave my life in the hands of my husband, which I have no problem with. Reading this, I realise that it sounds a bit weird... I trust my husband more than myself, how can that be?

My husbands bike

This weekend have been a bit busy, we went to visit my parents and stayed there from Friday to Saturday. Its just really nice being a "home", mum cooks all the meals, dad is reading the paper and makes sure we have enough coffee etc. My husband and my dad went to our mechanic to get our second car fixed... that was partly the reason we went to see my parents. They know this guy who is a mechanic and will fix our car quite cheap (no taxes and no receipt), so why not take advantage of that!

Today we have been doing laundry, there is lots of it! been cleaning a bit and now we are watching our local soccer team play on TV.

Hope you all had a great weekend, and are enjoying spring.

I'm a Ranger...

Or at least I tried to be last night!
Remember I blogged about going to the Ranger Fitness Class? Well that was last night, and it was hard... but lots of fun, and I will for sure go again. We started warming up with some boxing, running through the gravel etc.
Then it was time for trying out the track... first crawling under a net, then under, over, under and over some logs, then pulling yourself up an oblique wall and jumping about 2 meters down, then over some bars, and a few meters of monkey bars, then up a rope latter and down on the other side, then a short run on stumps, walking on a rope, and then the worst over the big A, which was so high, that kinda scared me on the top. After that over a 180 cm wall, then walking the line off logs and finally over the last bar.
I was super exhausted after the first try, and was sure I wasn't gonna give it a second try, but in the end I did... but my first time was my fastest, only 4 minutes and 8 seconds, some of the other girls took over 15 minutes since they were scared of heights, and lets face it there were quite a few times there was something with heights. But one girls only took 1 minute and 56 seconds to run through, damn she was fast. The track record is held by a young boy who could do the track in only 58 seconds... can you believe it? He must be flying or something! Well to beat his time I only need to take 3 minutes and 10 seconds off my time... No problem! Yeah right I will never be that fast, but its okay, I hope to come under 4 minutes at some point!
Today I can feel some new muscles in my arms and legs, but its not as bad as I had expected, so the overall conclusion of this is that I will be going again!
Ohh and we ended the night with cake... one of the girls had baked a really nice chocolate cake, just what you need after working out for 1½ hour:)

Fill In The Blank Friday

Over the last many Fridays I have been reading peoples "Fill in the blank Friday" posts. Every Friday Lauren over at "The Little Things We Do" have a post called "Fill int the blank Friday" and figured its time for me to join the fun, so here goes...

1. Today I'm wearing at work I wore jeans and my "lovely" green shirt, when I got home I grabbed the first T-shirt in the closet, and it happens to be pink, I bought this summer in Vietnam.

2. My favorite childhood food was hotdogs, fries and pancakes and my favorite food now is well I can't choose one dish, I love all food that is well prepared and especially if it comes with good company, somehow a dull meal can taste fabulous in good company.

3. A day that I'm too busy to sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee is a day that I'm too busy.

4. The last movies I saw was Flirting with 40 and the next movie I want to see is "The Blind Side" which hits the movies in Denmark in May, I have to see if Sandra Bullock deserves her Oscar;)

5. My favorite smell is fresh coffee because it means I have a chance to sit down and relax.

6. A weird little quirk I have is that I will sometimes answer a question without really listening to what people a asking because I'm doing something else. I pretend that I'm able to multitask but I guess its not my strongest side.

7. When I take personality quizzes they always say I'm outgoing and talkative, but I'm not sure its completely right, I have days that I feel awkward around people I don't know, and feel like I'm a little shy girl. But most times I talk a lot.

Enjoy your weekend!

Guess what I'm doing this weekend!

On Monday I got an e-mail from an old friend of mine from Kindergarten. We usually are really good at staying in touch, but time really flies right now, and we haven't seen each other since New Year.

Her and her husband at New Years

They have invited us for dinner and drinking on Saturday night, and we are staying over, no way we can ever meet up for dinner and drive the 1½ hour back home. So that's part of the deal when we invite each other is that we will be spending the night as well.

As said we have known each other since we were 4 years old, and she is probably one of the persons that knows me the best... sometimes I fear she knows too much... could it be that she pretty much knows everything. She was the one I always called after getting my heart broken, or had been dating a new guy, so she could help me figuring him out. At one point she was used to me calling in the beginning of every week telling her about my last catch (that makes me sound a bit slutty, I really wasn't... there were others that were worse than me, and I haven't done anything that I regret). But she was really surprised when we talked a few weeks in a row and I was still talking about the same guy... that was my husband...

We have had lots of great nights together, and when we start we don't need more than the 2 of us to make a party...A night of partying, after a few drinks we are both brilliant at singstar... NOT

I do miss not seeing her as often any longer, but as soon as we see each other again we for sure make up for lost time, and after a few minutes its like we are back in High School again, probably something our husbands dislikes from time to time... especially when we start singing all the songs from the Danish Song Contest from the 80s and 90s, we usually don't get too much credit for that by anyone, not even from the men of our lives, can you believe it? (well if you heard us, you would probably side with our husbands)

So on Saturday we are going to visit these 2!

I found this quote online, and in some weird way it describes part of our friendship
"Good friends will be there to take your drink away from you, when they think you've had enough... but your best friend will be looking at you tripping over your own two feet and say: bitch drink the rest of that, you know that we don't waste that kinda shit"
Marlene Dietrich once said "It's the friends you can called up at 4 a.m. that matter" and she couldn't be more true, I know if I was in trouble or needed someone to talk to a could call her anytime a day... or night, and that's why she is my friend, and why I'm excited about Saturday.
Enjoy your weekend!

What a day...

I have had the day off, and I'm almost blown away by how much I have gotten done... well no wonder since I was up a lot earlier than I usually is of my day off. I had an appointment at the hairdresser at 8.00 this morning, I saw they had a 10% discount if you were there between 8-10 am, so why not plan around that. So even with spending a couple of hours at the hairdressers I still had plenty of time to do other things. I went grocery shopping, went to get an environmental stamp for the car, which we need when going to Berlin, went to the mechanics for a check of the car, relaxed, cleaned, started tonight's dinner and I still have half a day left...
Though right now I'm debating wheter or not to go to my badminton class tonight, I'm sore all over my body from moving fruit trees around most of the day at work yesterday. I might just stay at home on the couch, but I told my badminton partner if she couldn't find a replacement I would go, but I wouldn't be able to run.
Just to top off the day, the sun is out, and it 7 degrees Celsius.

I can't wait till November...

Remember I got the wedding invitation to an old friend of mines wedding in Punta Cana the Dominican Republic in November? Well I have just made reservation for us at the fabulous Dreams resort in Punta Cana. Well have been writing the wedding planner, which is so American, not something we really use in Denmark. Well tonight I have also called her, which I figured would be no problem, I never really had too much problem speaking English, especially not after living a year in Washington D.C.

But I must say its one thing writing in English, but suddenly having to speak it, when its not something I do everyday any longer, it was a bit harder getting my tongue working with me. And it definitely didn't get better with me having to spell through my name, my husbands name and our entire address, lets face it the alphabet is not my strong side in English. But I think I managed to spell everything right, and we are now just waiting for our confirmation from the resort. And we need to book the flight, which we might be waiting a bit to do, since the tickets usually gets a bit cheaper the closer we get to the date.

So in November I will be here:
Attending the wedding of these two:

I have actually never met him, but since she chose him he must be a nice, charming, smart, fun and fab guy, so I can't wait to get to know him.

I'm such a pushover...

I feel like I'm such a pushover, but in a good way this time:) At the gym where I'm a member they have this ranger fitness class, its a military obstacle course, and so far I haven't dared joining in for a class, I kinda want to but I'm afraid its too hard. But last night my next door neighbour talked me into joining her for a class, but its not until the 22nd of March, so I have little time getting use to the idea. Though the good thing about this class is that on the 22nd it only for women, so it might not be too embarrassing. But I should probably cancel all plans on the 23rd since I might not be able to move... so I'm excited and scared at the same time...

The snow is back...

Just as I thought spring was on its way it started snowing again. The snow started to melt last weekend and by Tuesday it was all gone, yeah! Spring must be on its way, I guess that just lasted for a short while, because yesterday it started snowing again, and not just a little, we got a lot of snow in a short period of time. But again today the sun is shining again, and I'm right here cheering it on. But I'm a wee bit nervous that the snow will be back again, so keeping my fingers crossed that the sun keeps shining.

I feel appriciated:)

Is there a better feeling than feeling appreciated and missed? Since changing job on February 1st to a different department I have been told by several times by my old employees that they are missing me. Today it was published that this one guy who had another leading position in my old department had quit. I was never able to work with him, I have always seen myself as an easy person to work with, and I usually accept a lot of b.s. from others, but this guy was just different. We only worked together for 3 months, but that just didn't work. So I'm happy to see him go, but I guess I'm not the only one. One of "my girls" (I know that they aren't my girls any longer, but in my heart they still are) had cheered when they were told that he was quitting, and asked if they couldn't get me back then. Every time I ran into one of them today they asked if I was coming back, and that they missed me. So I feel good, that just confirms that my way off being "the boss" is the right way for me, they might not always agree with my way off doing things, but in the long run I'm doing good. A former boss of mine once told me that I was allowed to be more of a bitch from time to time, she said that "you always do so much good, so even then you demand a bit more you won't go in minus, the employees gives you way more plusses in their book, and they will definitely forgive you for a minus or two", and I guess she was right.
So today I might be tired from lack of sleep, but I'm even happier from being appriciated:)
